Post: Vlady or Javy may be targeted

Rotoworld's take on this (sorry if posted):

Javy Lopez - C - Atlanta Braves Dec 9

The Marlins may use the money Ivan Rodriguez rejected in order to make a run at Javy Lopez or possibly even Vladimir Guerrero.

It's likely that the Marlins will end putting the money toward a decent closer and arbitration raises for their starting pitchers. However, if a big name is willing to accept a creative contract, then something could get done

Let me just chime in here.

First of all, Rippy, if you don't think that Vladimir Guerrero's first choice is the Florida Marlins, you should be in a white paded room.

With that said, acquiring Javy Lopez is more logical and likely, but acquiring Vlad would just be outstanding. Do NOT, under any circumstances, count that out. Mike Lowell took less money to stay home, Vlad could very well do the same to COME home. He has stated before that he would rather take less money to be somewhere he is comfortable, than take $5-10 Million that he'll never spend anyway to go to a place he would be uncomfortable (New York?).

What has he SAID that makes Miami Shangri-La to him as opposed to Baltimore, St. Louis, Dallas, etc...

There are plenty of Latinos in all of these cities (in all cities), and plenty of Latino players on these teams.
