July 8, 201610 yr I wonder if this strange move has to do with remaining minor league options. This is basically a 7 game replacement. If they were to bring up Scruggs they would have to DFA him when Bour comes back and would likely lose him to another club. I'm not sure about Tellis. I'm guessing he still has some minor league options left. Kelly will also have to be DFA, but, I doubt he would be claimed nor would the Marlins care if he was.
