January 30, 20206 yr Author It's a good division but I think the general media overhypes the NL East because 4 of the 5 teams are actually "going for it"... but that doesn't mean that all 4 of those teams will actually be serious contenders as the year unfolds.
January 31, 20206 yr Everyone said this last year too, but I still struggle to see greatness in either the Mets or Phillies. Not saying you, Das, but there were some folks out there thinking all four other teams would be 90+ wins in 2019. I think the Mets and Phillies both will be in the neighborhood of 85 wins again, but could easily be in the 70s if a few things go the wrong way. Neither have deep systems or pockets to pull from. I think the Mets win somewhere in the 80-85 range, could be high 70s. Phillies in the 82-88 range, Girardi is a great hire and will maximize the talent on that roster Braves are winning 90 plus Nationals are winning 85-90 All of this is barring major injury. So ya, thats pretty tough. Marlins with a 15 game improvement (not unrealistic) would be giant. Winning 23 plus more or whatever HR said, thats just unrealistic.
January 31, 20206 yr I'll also say I think the over-under of 63.5 is a pretty easy bet and I would be pretty surprised if they didn't top it. I don't think this team is only six wins better than last season. I'd bet a Grover Cleveland note on them getting the over.
