SongInTheAir 396
Preface: I like Sandy Alcantara and I think he will be a solid contributor in the big league rotation for years. But: doesn't it seem like the Marlins are overhyping/overrating Alcantara? He's solid, but I haven't seen anything that screams "ace" meanwhile Donnie Sideburns is out here comparing him to Verlander, Kershaw, and Scherzer.

Part of that is motivation and hype BS and there's no reason to overthink it. If Donnie is talking to the media about his opening day starter I'd rather him talk highly about him. Should Mattingly say "Well Sandy is our #1 starter but we don't really think he's that good."?

"Yeah, we chose Sandy for Opening Day. He's okay. We think his future is just okay! He's going to be okay!"
