December 23, 200322 yr im a fan of the team no matter who they get or lose. A perfect example of "We root for the name on the front, not on the back" I think Juanky said that. So true I love being quoted. And to think, a rule I use to govern myself on what jersey I buy has become an anti-bandwagon slogan.
December 23, 200322 yr why are y'all wasting your time arguing with this guy??? hes obviously not a smart fan and he says that hes been following the team since 93 but i seriously doubt that because he doesn't know anything about the situation we're in. If the season started today with the guys we have today if you're still a fan you should root for them to win no matter what.
December 24, 200322 yr I understand Gonk argument, he's misinformed fan that's all. I was going to posted these on our new closer compared to our old closer. I just was to post these question "IF" Uggy is so good, why aren't teams calling? Looper..Yes he has market value and the Marlins tried(offered 3 million ayear) but in the end, he thought he was worth more..but answer my question.. :mischief2 BUT back to Gonk's problem and most likely the problem of most fans in this town....SPORTS TALK is sooo misinformed and uneducated about the game of baseball, it isn't even funny. Its no wonder people don't talk baseball on the air waves. Fans like Gonk don't understand that almost 70-80% of MLB players are interchangeable. The other 20-30% are that super-star level of player you don't trade, a difference maker. Did we trade or let one of those go this offseason? NO..Gonk have you seen Choi play? How's about our new closer Benitez, he's can't have an off year..remember before last season, he was one of top closer in baseball. Lee and Redman were very productive players for us throughout last season, BUT they are interchangeable...Well, Uggy is on the down side of his career, believe me he was running on fumes in the playoffs. And he isn't the same player he was two or three year ago. Pudge, well we all know the story...GREED! In the end you have to trust these organization in its decision making...have they let us down so far?? I don't think so
December 24, 200322 yr We dont need to make any big acquistions. We are the CHAMPS. Other teams need to make big pick ups to keep up with us since were #1. All we need to do is keep the core of the team together and for the most part we have done that with the top of the lineup still here and most of our pitching staff. Weve also added Benitez who is a big name closer and should be able to perform about as well as Looper and Urbina did for us last year. Now would I like to add Vlad or others, sure, but its not overly likely to happen. Even still, we have more than enough to remain competitive

Most of our guys were due huge pay raises as a result of their success last year, and there was just no way to keep all of them The choice Beinfest made were prudent, and we ended up with several young, promising players....the same strategy that gave us a WS Championship last year. The Marlins FO are getting the best bang for the buck of any team in MLB.
December 24, 200322 yr people have you forgotten that the marlins are the WS CHAMPS! every other team needs to find a way to get better, the marlins havent gotten BETTER because they dont need to they are the CHAMPIONS! theres not much for the marlins to do but tweak around loose ends and thats it
