December 23, 200322 yr Encarnacion would've been nice to have on the bench to be a DH. He did more for us last year than anyone realizes. He was great defensively and had his moments offensively. He's a solid hitter and will easily break 20 homers this year with the Dodgers. There are no DH's in the NL... If you meant by that, Keep him on the Bench, I doubt anyone in their right minds would have intentions of paying that much for a bench player When we play the AL on their field, obviously. 5 million dollars for 9 games a year.... And 1B and catcher positions are already set, we're just not sure about the production yet. But what do you want for $50 million? All-stars at every position? For our payrool, it ALWAYS takes people playing over their heads for a playoff run to happen. Just like last year.

December 23, 200322 yr Gonk, I dont know if you watched the postseason but our setup is pretty sweet: 1b - Choi, Conine 2b - Castillo SS - Gonzalez 3b - Lowell RF - Cabrera, (I pray to God, Vlad) CF - Pierre LF - Conine, Cabrera C - Castro, Redmond What about our pitching staff: Beckett, Pavano, Penny, Willis, Burnett (May+) Relief: Benitez, Fox, Neu, Bump, Tejera We've got what 8-10 million left in cap = Vlad or some relievers....We'll have more than enough punch to kick the Phillies around and I think even if we dont make the playoffs we will still wreck havoc throughout the league... my 2c. you and I and everyother die hard fan gets this..... December 23, 200322 yr If I remember correctly fans said we were worse off last season because we had Redman, Pudge, Holandsworth, Pierre and Encarnacion instead of Dempster, Johnson, Floyd, Wilson and Millar. Now we are worse off because we have AJ/Justin Wayne, Choi, Conine, Cabrera and Castro instead of Redman, Lee, Hollandsworth, Encarnacion and Pudge. At some point you need to give Bienfest some credit and your trust....so many hammered him for trading Clement and Alfonseca. They hammered him for trading Preston and CJ. They hammered him for not signing Floyd @ $10MM/3 years and trading him for Pavano(glad we have him), Mordecai(great team player), Justin Wayne and Levinski(helped us get Conine). And he was buried for trading Dempster for Encarnacion. The team has a budget. You may not like it but you need to learn to live with it.
