"Buyers or sellers?" Ng: Anything that makes our club better. (This one is a fair answer for a GM speaking publicly before the deadline) "How would you improve the club?" Jeter: I can't tell you, and it's hard to improve the club because when you add someone you also have to remove someone. (So I guess Jeter doesn't wanna get better players because it would make the players who get replaced sad) "Marte extension by the deadline?" Ng: Doesn't have to be by the deadline, could also keep him and negotiate after the deadline including the offseason (Hmm, they'd entertain him in free agency? I find that hard to believe. It's not impossible but for the Marlins the best chance to keep him is before the trade deadline IMO, and not sure why he would be kept without an extension with the team in last place) Jeter: Keeping Marte negotiations private but it's refreshing to hear players want to stay here, a change from a few years back. (Yeah, true, and I appreciate not publicizing the negotiations) "Rojas wants to stay but would understand being traded" Jeter: Thanks for your kindness Miggy, appreciate it, happy he's here. "Assessment of the team?" Jeter: Inconsistent but every team has rough patches so take it one day at a time. Just still irks me they sat on their hands and did nothing for weeks on end when there were clear craters - not just holes - that needed to be filled even if a temporary basis. They got Panik, but should've happened a month earlier.
