Alex Gonzalez

breakout year? what the heck do you think 2003 was? after his past couple years, I thought 2003 was terrific for Sea Bass.

I mean what would you like from the guy, Miguel Tejada numbers? I don't see him ever being a high-average hitter, he just doesn't have the bat discipline. Even with his 2nd half slump, I'll take that season anytime for Alex.

as he long as he keeps playing the defense

Alex is a great player with alot of talent. I havent seen a SS better than him in defense (in the NL) yet.

If he can put up those numbers he did last year but consistant, i think he wont be bashed on no more. He just needs to stop swining at bad pitches and take his time!

Alex Gonzalez is probably the best NL defensive shortstop. I just wish that he can be consistent. Not like last season which he hit like 288 in the first half and then hit 208 in the second.

Alex if you read this remember hit 265 all year i wont care. As long as you hit 260 in the playoffs, 260 in the first half and 260 in the second half. Not like this year when you averaged like 1 hit per series in the playoffs. Please consistency is the key. :D

I'll still argue that if they'd stop hitting him 8th, he'd hit much better. Hit him seventh and put a more experienced patient hitter in the 8 hole.

Alex bats 8th because he is a breaking-ball hitter, and you see more breaking stuff in the eight hole. No, he is not a breaking ball hitter. He does hit breaking pitches, yes, but he is a free swinger. I agree with Bigg Hugg - A Gon's numbers were better when he wasnt hitting 8th I believe.

I dont think A Gon will ever smell .290. Sorry. His ceiling for me is .280. Which is fine, and yes, he has the power to hit 15-20HR. Anything over that would be exceptional.

But let us not forget - his glove is what is most valuable. And it is one of the best in ALL of baseball. A Gon also has showed he is a big time player - easily made two of the most rememorable plays in the postseason - the walk off home run against the Yanks and The Slide. Gotta love this guy - when he isnt pouting.

We had the most productive bottom of the order in the majors last year ... i think Alex in the 8th hole is fine, because he wont feel that pressured which means he wont be swinging at everything.

I think whatever production he gives us is great ... his defense makes up for a lot which is fine and if he could hit 260 17 - 75 like last year i would be more than happy.

sea bass needs to concentrate on just turning a great two months offensively into a great 3-4 months and go from there.

as long as his defense is not going into slumps you can afford to have a hole in your lineup with the pitching the marlins have.

any hitting you get from sea bass is a bonus.
