January 19, 200422 yr Would somebody like to explain to me how I haven't seen any other threads on a site with this many Miami residents about this article from Friday's Miami Herald? Was this confirmed as a hoax or what?
January 19, 200422 yr they mentioned on the TV news the other day that it wasnt true and castro refuted it or something. besides, contrary to popular belief, miami residents (the non cubans anyways) could care less about castro news.
January 19, 200422 yr well i heard that thing that the columbian mayor said but this is the 1st time i hear about this "death" rumor. truth is, for me personally ive been hearing about how close he is to death for as long as i can remember so that maybe why it wasnt posted.
January 19, 200422 yr Author they mentioned on the TV news the other day that it wasnt true and castro refuted it or something. besides, contrary to popular belief, miami residents (the non cubans anyways) could care less about castro news. Alright then, I figured it wasn't true since I hadn't heard about it. But in response to the second part of your post, aren't most Miami residents Cuban?

January 19, 200422 yr I'm convinced Castro will outlive Reagan and more importingly will still be the dictator of cuba by the time hillary clinton is president...sigh...
January 19, 200422 yr Author I'm convinced Castro will outlive Reagan and more importingly will still be the dictator of cuba by the time hillary clinton is president...sigh... Castro will outlive Reagan, it's a miracle of modern science that Reagan didn't die years ago. Although I doubt Castro will be alive to see hilary as president.
January 19, 200422 yr Well, it is really just the fact that we've heard so many rumors that we get skeptical after a while. We get excited when we first hear it, but it is cautious excitement. And Miami does care, because this city will explode the day it happens.
January 19, 200422 yr We get excited when we first hear it, but it is cautious excitement. you get excited? damn i am a cubano arrepentido
January 19, 200422 yr And Miami does care, because this city will explode the day it happens. that's true. you're right. omg i hope i'm not around to see the riots.
January 19, 200422 yr Party at my house the day it happens!! 02pac will be the one to jump out of the giant cake wearing nothing but boxers....or less. LOL (scared) Seriously though, it's true. Us Cubans don't get all hyped up because we know that the day it happens, it'll be all over the news. That's for sure.
January 19, 200422 yr Ok Oheeo... Here is the whole scoop. Bogota, Colombia Mayor, went to Cuba and vistited Castro. At his return he commented to the press that he thought Castro looked very sick. Every year around the same time, a rumor of Castro's death starts to spread and it always end up being a hoax. The rumors are said to be started by the Cuban government themselves, in order to cause more grief and destabilize the Cuban exile community. There was not much said about it because the media handled this one properly (finally) and treated this as what it was... Just a stupid rumor. The city of Miami has a special contingency plan for when the death of Castro finally comes... They know it's going to be Hell in the streets here. This is why the media has to be careful before starting a celebration parade and destroy Miami for a rumor. No, the f***er is not dead.
January 19, 200422 yr Castro is one of those guys that wont die. Ever. Yeah... He is like that character of "The Autumn of the Patriarc" (Garcia Marquez) He probably has as many or more look alikes (like Saddam) and when he dies they just put his double in place, in order to continue his government "de mierda".
January 19, 200422 yr Me and some friends had a hefty conversation about Castro's death, and although ill prolly be dead before he goes (im 22) we were just thinking of the king size party theres gonna be in Cuba ... and since we are about an olympic pool away from it, im going.... and im not cuban whatsoever either way the guy has another 10 to go ... and thats very unfortunate
January 19, 200422 yr Thing is, when the jerk finally dies, you think his brother will take over? That's what the talk of the town is right now.
January 19, 200422 yr Dude, I hope Raul takes over. He is an idiot that can be overthrown like nothing.
