SCOTT FIRED!

Featured Replies

Byron Scott was fired today as head coach of the Nets, and i just wonder why he was.

the loss to the heat was apparently the last straw and that (coupled with the jason kidd situation) were factors in his firing

Well I guess the NBA critics were right. That Eddie Jordan was the mind of the offense the last 2 years.

Heres a link to the article if anyone is interested.

ESPN Article

this is not a shock.

jason kidd said last summer he wanted him fired as part of his resigning with the Nets...which was stupid.

couple that with jason kidd being a coach killer (look at his history with coaches to understand this)

then with scott not getting an extension last summer after leading the Nets to the Finals two years in a row....

its not a shock.

incidentally...i never thought too much of Scott as a coach. I dont think he has what it takes to coach a quality team to a championship....remember he led the Nets to the Finals winning the very weak East the last two years....

The Nets should hire Bill Fitch, Doug Moe or Pat Riley. That would be fun.

Finally Jason Kidd is a punk...and will never win a title when he is the number one star on a team. Count on it.

i wouldnt mind havin him here... :whistle

Interesting stats regarding Scott:

Record as Net's coach: 149-139

Record after 1st season: 122-83

Record without Eddie Jordan as assistant coach: 47-74

Overrated?

eddie jordan aint exactly leading the wizards to the promised land, though

yeah, but he was a key part in the nets runs

he was the brain of the operation

Das, I never remeber you saying anything bad about Kidd when the spurs were courting him.

i never watned kidd.

thats not a secret rune.

ask my comrades in my spur forum.....

kidd would of been a cancer to this team and a waste of salary cap resources.

First of all, one coach you can eliminate for the Nets is Pat Riley. Riles is still president of the Heat and isn't looking to leave that job. Plus, he even told reporters not too long ago that he doesn't miss coaching that much.

Anyway, I do agree that Jason Kidd's standards are ridiculous. He wants everything his way and if it's not his way, then he threatens with wanting to be traded. Like in the offseason, he said he wouldn't return to the Nets unless they give KMart a contract extension and all this bulls***. I mean, he's arguelably the best pg in the league but those demands are over his head. Like he said if they end up playing in Staten Island, he'll ask for a trade. SHUT UP JKIDD!
