Need for speed

Featured Replies

With the loss of Encarnacion and Derrek Lee and Pudge we have much less speed than last year.

Does Choi have any? I doubt it.

Are we going to lead the NL in steals this year?

What do you think?

we should lead in SB(Luis+JP+any others)

Castillo will be back to old form

Im confident that we will be fine

(Luis+JP+any others)

Thats the problem though, there are no others.

The others were Juan Enc, DLee and pudge

2003 stats:

JP - 65 SBs

Castillo - 21 SBs

Lee - 21 SBs

Enc - 19 SBs

Pudge - 10 SBs

everyone else on the team had 3 steals or below

Jack is going to send someone besides JP and Castillo

Gonzalez?

Pinch Runner would have to be Mordecai or G Williams if he makes the team

We didn't rely on running a bunch after Jack took over anyway, and we started winning more too. I'm not concerned.

gonzalez cant run only on the bases he can. and no torborg means less running now. i dont think we will lead but i think juan p can reach 55-60 and luis 30-35.

other than taht conine and lowell will be next with like 5-10 stolen base. we lost allotta speed dood.

yea right

Jack knew he had speed and he definitely used it.

Jack knew he had speed and he definitely used it. Look at the SB's when Torborg was managing and then look at them when McKeon was managing. Steals went down alot. Half the team was on pace to steal 20 bases when Jack took over.

Lowell has to be the second slowest man alive, behind Mike Redmond.

I think Miguel Cabrera will steal about 15 next year depending if he is a smart base runner :mischief2

we will be ok.

We have enough speed.

Plus yes speed is important but hey we have enough so don't freak out guys.

Um...o yeah! JP is gonna have a better year than last year might be on the all-stat team and castillo will be back to his oldself.

Pierre, Castillo (with a rested hip!), Gonzalez, Conine (not fast but smart), with Valdez, Nunez, Hooper and Christensen competing for jobs.

McKeon will win with that.

Valdez, Nunez, Hooper and Christensen....

How many SBs did they get in the minors? Are they Quick?

Valdez hadd 33Sb and 9CS for the Topes along with 16/5 with the Mudcats

Abe had 9/4 with the Topes

Hooper had 25/9 with the Topes

in my opinion there is no question that speed is no problem. Besides Pierre last year, I think we were hurt some with the stolen bases. I am referring to Castillo. 21 sb, 19 cs in my opinion probably hurt us more than helped us by far.
