Why was the 'Darwin Award' thread closed?

Featured Replies

To many arguments were breaking out on whether or whether not the nominations were true or false which than escalated and ruined the whole thread.

Too many arguments? Too many arguments? There was only one "argument", and I really hesitate to call it that. The thread was "ruined"? People were still posting in it weren't they?

As cgator said before he closed it...

This is humor zone not debate zone...

And even though something may not be 110 % true, it doesnt mean it has to be debated amongst inside that topic, which than caused it to turn off-topic and eventually ruin it.

So why not delete SorianoFan's posts, or ban him, rather than locking the thread that everyone else was enjoying? Just because one poster is being an ass, I don't see the point in locking everything said poster takes off topic. Pretty soon it will be a forum of nothing but locked threads.

:thumbdown Sorianofan rises to the occasion again with his politics. Politics is for politicians not real people. The only politics I really care for are the Presidential race and Israeli politics. Sheesh if your going to make it an argument Soriano, go post it in offtopic or something. :mad : Plus your baseball arguments are all statistical, never includes intangibles...

He argues everything and will not accept anything unless you back it up with like 3 sources. Plus he's always plugging his dumb ass blog website crap. Sorry for turning this into a thread on hating sorianofan.

I locked it, not chefbob.

Yes, I could have deleted posts by one individual to allow the thread to continue. However, if I do that to you in any particular thread, you will be crying foul. If you don't want to debate an issue with him, then ignore what he says. Once he started receiving responses, it was more than just one user moving the thread off topic.

Is it real??? That's all I ask, that's not a debate, its a question. The way everyone acts leads me to believe its false, so why do so many people think its real? Is it an urban legend thing?

I read the topic and all I did was ask whether it was real, Lcyberlina said that I shouldn't get so technical, so I then reiterated my original question. OF course, no one answers it and they get more and more off topic. In my last post there I ask if it is real, and again nothing. Is it real???

Now to the ball-less that want to take cheap shots at me:

How about we ban you for calling me an ass? Please.

First you talk in me in the third person and then you speak in the second person. Nonetheless I was not arguing, I kept asking if it was real and why to people think it is if it is not. I DON'T KNOW.

And pertaining to by "baseball arguments", don't get mad at me for proving YOU wrong. Intangibles exist. Look at Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter, Sterling Hitchcock, heck even John Rocker and their postseason numbers. However, to make an empirical argument of skill and someone proves you wrong, you can't hide behind 'intangibles.' They are not measurable so they are HARD to argue for. A better argument is whether they exist (which I think they do.)

To argue everything someone has to argue with me. And you don't have to back it up with 3 sources my friend, you have to back it up with numbers and or logic. Don't get angry at me for exposing your's and other's illogical arguments. You make it seem like constructing a good argument is somehow a BAD thing...WTF?

And concerning my site, most of the stuff I post here is all political stuff that goes to the political forum to spark POLITICAL discussion. People reply to them, people have opinions concerning issues. I merely just open up discussion.

Oh no, I made this thread into another debate! No, I just merely responded to those who choose to say things which I find not true.

If you have an issue wth me, PM me.

Is it real????

Yes it is. The particular one you remember is quite similar to another one from several years back...but this one is new.

That is the correct response.

This is a humor forum, personal debates involving individuals should be conducted via PM.

ENOUGH! :no
