February 12, 200422 yr Author Now honestly Das, do you think Dean really has a chance? Of all the candidates, he is the one I like. However, I am just worried that he may not be able to get Bush if he gets into the Presidential race. What do you think?
February 12, 200422 yr Dean and Kerry stand no chance against bush (both being north east liberals.) Clark and Edwards are the dem's only chance...and I mean only chance. http://www.opensecrets.org/presidential/index.asp
February 12, 200422 yr Dean and Kerry stand no chance against bush (both being north east liberals.) Clark and Edwards are the dem's only chance...and I mean only chance. yeah, but clark and edwards must follow federal spending/fundraising limits since they accepted public financing for their campaigns. $40-45 million--the majority of which will be burned in trying to win the nomination--isn't going to stand a chance against the $200+ million bush will spend prior to convention time. clark has already dropped out. in order for edwards' background to be effective, he would have to able to win southern states (tough to do) and midwestern states. any democrat who wins ohio and florida will probably win the election.
February 12, 200422 yr correction: NO DEMOCRAT is going to win the election. Mark my words, I will be right about this one.
February 13, 200422 yr Author Latest news. This apparently isn't a newsbreaking story. It appears so that this is old as hell and probably just a mere rumor. We'll see.
February 13, 200422 yr Kerry has been made to look normal when he is really very far left(a massachusetts liberal even farther left than teddy kennedy.) Dean has made him look normal. Also so far the press has been all pro-kerry. As soon as kerry is the only candidate he will be made to look bad. The media will have some negative stories on him rather than positive ones. i don't think he can defeat bush.
February 13, 200422 yr Dean is a doctor and he seems like a normal guy? I guess a normal guy who makes 200k a year and never really knew the middle class like Edwards, because both Dean and Kerry were raised in Upper Middle Class, lower Rich Class homes. Das sorry to break it to you, but Dean has no chance in Wisconsin, though Kerry's numbers are slipping, Edwards is gaining, Kucinich is gaining and Dean is standing firm. And the sooner you all realize that as long as the candidates have money they'll stay in. Dean, Edwards, and Kerry will probably all be there at the convention due to the fact of money. So probably none of the Big 3 Dem's will be gone by Convention time in July.
February 13, 200422 yr I wonder if I will go my whole life without making a political contribution. I would rather give my money to a hungry person I know that lives near me than some rich white guy telling us what to think... just wanted to bring up a thought.

They give because its in their best interest be it special(abortion, gay marriage, etc) or business(regulation, contracts, etc).

I would rather give my money to a hungry person I know that lives near me than some rich white guy telling us what to think... just wanted to bring up a thought. i don't give money to the homeless, i give food. if you give them money they will probably just go and buy or alcohol with it. so when i am in a big city and i eat lunch i usually buy an extra burger and find a homeless guy and give it to him if i have time.

I agree with NC Marlin. I wish I had enough money to help those people that are without jobs and homes. It would be better if you were able to solve their problems for ever and not just for one day. I guess the gesture is what counts.

Look, I'm one of the Dean-iacs out there. I was a Dean delegate at the Florida Democratic Party Convention this past December. I also worked as Assistant Counsel to the Vermont House of Representatives Transportation Committee in 1997 during the Dean administration, so I speak with experience when I talk about him (he used to eat lunch with us in the Vermont State House cafeteria). For you to say that Dean is a middle class person because he had a "five figure" salary is wrong. Dean is frugal, but he isn't one of the proletariat. Dean comes from a monied family from Manhattan. His father was a Wall Street investor/banker and Dean was a product of boarding schools and Yale. He is as much of a monied person as Edwards, but not as "blue blood" as Kerry. With that said, Dean has been portrayed as a leftist "crazy" by the media, but knowing him as Vermont governor (MY governor from 1994 - 1997), that can't be farther from the truth. He governed Vermont from the middle and was quite conservative on some grounds. As a matter of fact, he championed the cause of "executive privilege" for Vermont governors when he made all the papers and information on his deal with HydroQuebec "classified" and "exempt from public review" shortly after he became governor after Governor Snelling's death. Just thought I'd bring some FACTS into this debate.
February 14, 200422 yr It's official, the dirty war is on! *puts on working overalls* This was posted about John Kerry in the "Drudge Report". The Republican dirty war has begun! Oh oh, here we go! Don't believe everything (or at least 80% of what Matt Drudge writes. Most of times he is dead wrong or making s**t up. See this article, and visit this blog LINK. The publisher is a friend of mine (we met at the Florida Democratic Party Convention) and he is really on top of things.

February 14, 200422 yr For you to say that Dean is a middle class person because he had a "five figure" salary is wrong. who said anything about him being middle class? lol none of them are middle class.
February 15, 200422 yr Don't believe everything (or at least 80% of what Matt Drudge writes. Most of times he is dead wrong or making s**t up. I was going to say the same thing. He is a biased writer and has no credibility. I think Bush's campaign will throw every dirty trick they have in the book at Kerry. Thats all they are good for. Forget about the economy, the war, the lies, and everything. It will be like Dukakis versus his father. But Kerry wont make the same mistakes. He is going to go after Bush. On another note, I find it funny that the Republicans are attacking Kerry and other by saying that they are going to fight the dirtiest campaign ever yet at the same time they are engaging in some major mudslinging. The hypocricy never ends. I also wanted to ask, what's the opinion of everyone if Kerry was to nominate Clark as his running mate. I really think it would be ingenious. Clark is from the south. He is a Vietnam vet also. He is a decorated general. He is a moderate. The Veterans vs. Bush and Cheney.

Clark just endorsed Kerry, so naturally I would assume that his supporters would follow suit with Kerry. By picking up Edwards (assuming he is the last one in with Kerry), you would be uniting just about all of the Democrats with them there. And Edwards is from the south and a lot younger than Kerry, so that could potentially draw in some of the female vote (if they weren't to vote on issues).
