Ramp
link What moves will Paul DePodesta, the Dodgers' rookie GM, make this year? National League West insiders say they wouldn't be surprised to see DePodesta send Adrian Beltre to the Yankees, who could move Beltre to second base, or to swing a deal with friend J.P. Ricciardi that would put Eric Gagne in a Blue Jays uniform and bring blue-chip prospects to L.A. The Dodgers have enough talent and they could trade Gagne for some nice players

Wild Card
God no...say no to Beltre. With the protection he'd get in that lineup, I wouldn't be worried.
SorianoFanHFW
He's never played second in his professional career. He had a .290 obp last year and a .714 ops. He hasn't been a medicore player since the year 2000. I would much rather give miguel cairo and homer bush the platoon at second base for much less. Sure, Cairo sucks offensively, but Bush is looking recovered and I would much rather roll the dice for cheap with these guys.

SorianoFanHFW
Torre is a jerk and he said that wilson is the front runner. Wilson, being the offensive and defensive inferior of everyone available should not get consideration for the job. I think wilson will do so bad, cairo will probably be chosen. It really should be between cairo, bush, and myrow.
Shamrock
Beltre is an upgrade on any options you currently have...oh ya...homer bush SUCKS. The Dodgers will be a powerhouse in no time...PD is a genius..and now a genius with payroll. :o

Better than Beltre and poke reese.
Fish Fry
The Dodgers have enough talent and they could trade Gagne for some nice players If the Dodgers could've moved Beltre to 2B, they would've done it already. As a 3B, he sucks offensively. He would make a passable 2B.  I don't know what you mean by the Dodgers have "enough" talent. They already traded Paul Quantrill. Losing Gagne would pretty much decimate the middle of the 'pen. Mota and Shuey could do a decent Quantrill and Gagne imitation, but who do they have to get to those 2? Plus they did nothing to improve their crappy offense other than getting Juan Encarnacion to play CF (that's if he plays CF and they don't do something stupid like move Shawn Green to 1B and put Encarnacion in RF). That isn't to say that I wouldn't blame them for trading Gagne. If they could get some good offensive talent for Gagne, they should pull the trigger immediately.
SorianoFanHFW
Quantrill was a FA. And I doubt gagne would repeat, but unless they trade for an incredible bat, all they have now is pitching.

Wilson Alvarez and Tom Martin are 1-year wonders bouyed by Dodger Stadium. Jose Lima is washed-up and Jeff Weaver is screwed-up. I'm sure the pitching will be pretty good, but it's no slam dunk, either, especially if they trade Gagne. I'd offer Gagne, Beltre, Miller, and Koyie Hill to the Rangers for Blalock (or Teixeira) and Soriano and see if the Rangers bite. That would be worth their trouble. nc marlin
In the "Beane system," little emphasis is put on a closer. Beane loves using a rotating door policy with closers and seeing his closers get big money contracts elsewhere. DePodesta, being of this "Beane system" probably doesn't consider Gagne that valuable and figures he can find another closer for a bargain. Heckeroo
the only prospect i would trade gagne for on the Jays is Rios, and even that probably isn't enough

The Indians could've moved Jim Thome right back to 3B after Matt Williams left and put Sexson at 1B (rather than wasting all that money on Travis Fryman), and nobody was blocking Giles in LF. John Hart is the most overrated GM in baseball.
