  1. Guessing a team looking to make an uncharacteristically bold move. St. Louis immediately comes to mind. Keep Aroldis away from the Cubs. Cards might've lost more games in the 8th and 9th innings this year than any other NL team.
  2. Call Walt Jocketty and hustle a deal for DeSclafani
  3. It has been customary for White Sox starters to pick the uniforms when it's their turn on the bump. This game was obviously an exception due to pre-planned marketing. As much as I can appreciate Sale's anarchist ways, he is very wrong to destroy team uniforms like that. Sale is contract to wear a paperbag if that's what the team puts in his locker. He complains the club cares more about money and marketing than winning and while that may be somewhat accurate, the marketing helps pay Sale's $9.1M salary. One great thing about the Fish is we have no bad throwbacks in team history.
  4. Huge opportunity for Cosart, obviously. At 26, he's still got some time to figure it out on the 25-man roster.
  5. Salad is dealing tonight! Offense needs to get going or we're looking at another waste of a stellar pitching performnce
  6. You're being a huge apologist here And several of you immediately took the media's half-assed, broad story as letter of law He did not deny the fight part and he also regretted "it" (notice he conveniently did get into what "it" is). There is a good chance that he did indeed challenge him to a fight. Are you (not you bender) really going take what Tino says 100% at face value? It just doesn't add up and I really doubt Ruggiano is the type not to shag balls (pure conjecture here obviously, but based on his behavior/attitude last year w ozzie). I now have read Tino regrettably admit to challenging Kotch's injury.....but still nothing about a fight. I don't know about you but I can challenge somebody about something w/o necessarily trying to fight them at the same time. And yes, Tino has way more credibility in this league than the entire Marlins roster, (Pierre excluded), combined. Well now that he's had to resign for being a douchebag, that credibility has certainly taken a hit Again, I believe he resigned b/c his coaching style didn't fit into Redmond's locker room. That doesn't necessarily mean his coaching style was "too aggressive" either. But you nor I have ever been in that clubhouse to witness so.........

  8. It's in the article Polly linked a few minutes ago. Here, I saved you the trouble. The Sun-Sentinel also reported that Martinez challenged first baseman Casey Kotchman to a fight. Martinez did not directly address that claim but took responsibility for the disagreement. “That’s probably the only one I regret — he’s a good guy, Martinez said. “I questioned his injury (a strained left hamstring that Kotchman suffered on April 5). I shouldn’t have done that. I felt bad about doing that. Okay... I'm not seeing the "challenged him to a fight" part of that admission but w/e
  9. 100% support Tino on this one. Most professional ballplayers feel they're too high up on the pedestal to pick up baseballs and that drives old school guys like Tino crazy. He went on a profanity-laced tirade because a hitter decided he wasn't going to pick up after himself and I would too. Hell, I coach 11U youth ball and I get a little pissy when my kids be lazy about picking up balls in the cage. You have to love the media and they're ability to take something generic and really spin a villain. Getting in a player's grill over not picking up balls in the cage is obviously a far cry from "grabbing a player around the neck" during hitting instruction. Now I don't know why Tino would be so willing to resign after this but I do believe he's had it with the club and didn't really know what he was signing up for. It probably was only a matter of time and he wouldn't have been back for next year anyways. This is only Tino's side of the story. The fact that he resigned, makes me think there's a lot more than meets the eye here. Also, the way he handled Kotchman and wanted to fight him because of an injury is another red flag that he's simply trying to salvage his rep after this and was probably a much bigger asshole than asking dudes to pick up balls. 1. What we know of Tino as a player supports his side of the story. I mean, how often did we hear of "Tino the asshole" when he played all those years? I swear, I had never heard anyone say anything bad about him before yesterday. 2. If he was trying to save face, then why come up with such a simple story as "players not picking up balls in the cage"? I 100% believe it, I think this is the byproduct of today's lazier and more egotistical ballplayers, and they're clashing with the old guard who are now their coaches. I'm also hesitant to believe any of this "tried to fight Kotchman" crap because it seems to be a blip thrown into the tail end of all these "Evil, Bipolar Tino" articles. The lack of details regarding the incident makes it nothing more than a rumor and my guess is it was a heated exchanged in the clubhouse....something that happens everywhere, all the time. He admitted to the Kotchman thing and said he regrets it... Of course he's trying to save face. He wants another coaching job after all. I'm sure the balls thing happened, but I seriously doubt that's all there is to the story. For instance, Ruggiano was a huge fan of Ozzie so I really don't see him clashing with Tino for no reason. I've never read him admitting much less acknowledging the Kotchman story And I just don't see where it makes any sense for a guy with Tino's track record to just be jacking up ballplayers in the clubhouse for no reason. I think this is a case where Tino's coaching style didn't mesh well with Redmond's clubhouse and it made him the odd man out. And if players feel they're too good to pick up balls in the cage, then Redmond needs to get his damn players in check.

  12. Gianny, Gianny...where's the patience at the plate?? Surprised nobody is beating on the bullpen in this thread as much as we should be. Seems like everyone not named "Cishek" can't pitch out of a jam to save their lives right now.
