  1. Also last time I checked (since you like picking and choosing which post you want to respond to) This is what we should do at 3rd. Apparently @SonOfJack has dementia. https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/78848-what-to-do-with-alfaro/?do=findComment&comment=1792172&_rid=14449
  2. Did I say that? Or did I say give him a shot and see if we can create more depth? Do you always like putting words in people’s mouths? Or is critical thinking not your forte?
  3. He was a lazy hire to begin with and does nothing but bring name value. Everything you’re seeing is exactly why the Dodgers kicked him to kingdom come. You wanna one the sad part? We’ve blown 25 saves this year. We’re 23 games back. If Don even had a semblance of a clue this team could have finished around .500 this year. Are we though? Nope. That stat alone shows you how foul the leadership stinks.
  4. Lmao that was pathetic. Alright ship him out. I’m on board now.
  5. That’s what’s going to tell you that they have no interest in fielding a winner? Not capitalizing on a playoff run and keeping that type of expectation going into this year didn’t do it for you?
  6. Can’t wait for this long AB to end in a dribbler.
  7. Lol don’t mind them. They popped some shrooms before posting.
  8. Are you Das Texan who said that in the very conversation about him? No you’re not. How else was I going to make a comment about that very quote there Sensai?
  9. That wasn’t directed at you even though I quoted you.
  10. Y’all told me OF is easy though?
  11. Literally have no idea that’s a rule involving their stats.
  12. Pitching is totally on Mel. As in how good of a job he’s doing. Nobody talks about pitching but you’re right. We can’t identify relief pitching for the life of us. I’m afraid if a bigger ball club pays the big bucks once his contract is up then we’ll lose our only advantage.
  13. I’m not too concerned about it. He’s a movement pitcher and depends on deception. He’s never been a guy to throw it past somebody and who knows what actually happens. Sometimes these surgeries allow you to add velocity because the previous damage is what held your FB back. Him and Meyer were probably going to be moved anyways. Perez and Fulton grade as players with higher floors and the talk of extensions to the big three with Thompson and Cabrera still under ball club control would’ve created a log jam. I still expect Meyer to be moved this offseason. Maybe Eder is moved in ‘22 instead of this offseason as well.
  14. Do you always make assumptions based on nothing? When do I say in my post that I don’t believe he can get better and I’ve given up on him? YOU brought up that I said he can’t hit well. I provide with legitimate facts that show you he’s not hitting well. YOUR response is that I’m back to giving up on him because you couldn’t counter act that I proved he’s not hitting well. If you wanted to be fair you would mention that I hate our hitting development which you’ve quoted and liked those very posts but because you’re butthurt you forgot about all that.
  15. It benefits Alfaro because he’s not part of the pre game planning for the pitchers any more. He can solely focus on himself and what he needs to do to be prepared at the plate. Lewin on the other hand was a 1st baseman plus he doesn’t move that well. If he couldn’t figure out how to hit a breaking ball when he was playing first then how’s he going to learn a completely new position and how to anticipate and take routes to the baseball plus improve his hitting? if there was anybody to bring up it would be Peyton Henry. He’s the only catcher we don’t have tape on. I would then focus on seeing what Bryson Brigman can do. Kid’s batting .293 and we have a legit depth issue in the infield. I still don’t know how Devers made the 40 but Bryson didn’t. I just hope we didn’t stun Dever’s growth.
  16. You’re talking about talent level. I’m talking about what it takes to play the position. Way different. Could I play one on a major league field? No. When I talked with the Angels to sign as a UFA back in 2017 they wanted me strictly behind the plate and told me to stop taking reps at 3rd that offseason. 3rd base was nothing more than to give me a day off and keep my bat in the lineup. A guy like Alfaro though that has a huge arm and is a really good and fluid athlete can absolutely do it at this and it’ll just add another thing he can do. He already plays the corners and 1st. He’s batting .248 as of last night. You’re not going to find a bench guy that can do that at his price due to ball club control.
  17. Or ship BA out of here because he fucking sucks like the rest of this team. Move an aging Miggy to 3rd and sign a SS.
  18. Was the year he batted over .260 a small sample size too? PS if he keeps hitting then he’ll probably hit .260 again.
  19. Being an outfielder has never been easier than playing a corner and if you think so then you shouldn’t be commenting about baseball. This isn’t tee ball when you put the fattest kid in RF.
  20. He’s batting .235 with a 28 % k rate and a .1 WAR. He grades as the worst starting OF in baseball.
  21. You would have a point if he didn’t raise his BA by 20 points since moving. It’s painfully obvious that catching was affecting him at the plate.
  22. @SonOfJack he’s going to have a spot even if he’s not a catcher. You’re not finding bench guys who can play the corners and 1st that bat .246(his current avg) for the money you can sign him for. I’m with you if they try to play him at catcher again. He clearly can’t handle a catcher’s pre game prep and his hitting prep well.
  23. Every position is incredibly hard and it has its own responsibilities. It’s not like you can go and change a position when you want to. You gotta take reps at it. You gotta see how a player moves and reacts. Anybody that’s trying to compare trying Alfaro who actually can grade athletically as a 3rd baseman to a tight hipped, limited athlete like Ozuna is insane. If they have confidence in him playing LF and reacting to a ball’s position in the air then they shouldn’t have a problem giving him reps at 3rd in the spring and seeing what he can do. All I know is his improvement at the plate since moving is extremely positive. He’s risen I think 20 points when it comes to his average since then.
