What has happened to the Mudcats?

Nice job Maverick....keeping us informed on who the Marlins picked in this year's draft...now we all have to ask why did we go with 90% pitchers.....we are stockpiled right now in Greensboro with Vanden Hurk, Allison, Baxter and Mobley...in Jupiter we have Russ, Mildren, Vargas, Bostick....in Carolina we have Olsen, Bazardo, Kensing, Johnson, Lockwood, Resop, Cave, Wolf & McNutt and then in AAA we are stockpiled once again....how many arms can we have? Looks like we might be in for some big name trades before July 31 with the pitching we have.....need some position players...... I would imagine that some of these young arms will get a call to the bigs before season's end as some veterans will not be resigned next year...... Oh yea I forgot Tankersley....when he gets healthy...... Can't ever have enough young arms I guess......now to sign them all.....OUCH

Now they are up by 1/2 game.....two more at home with West Tenn.....Mudcats are playing with alot of confidence right now...they are not now nor have they ever been intimidated by any team in the Southern League...

I read in one of the forums posted on June 4 that Vargas tore up High A and has been promoted to Carolina????? My source has not been informed of that yet....if so GREAT news.....another lefty as a starter and this can only help the Mudcats catch West Tenn and then pass them as the front runner in their division with only a dozen + games left in the first half.....

Don't think it is a matter of staying away from baseball but rather playing at a level where a player is supposed to be.....Kensing has great stuff....when one is not ready to get the call and you put him in a situation that overwhelms him, suddenly the confidence he once had is gone....as you know pitchers are a delicate bunch of players.....and confidence weighs more heavily than does ability

A terrific game between the top two teams in minor league baseball.....great pitching...timely hits...and great job in relief by Cave and Resop......this is what it is all about :thumbup

What is in the water at AA Carolina?????? Now Nick Ungs goes down in the second inning....after throwing a pitch he falls to the ground in severe pain in the shoulder.....more news to follow but it does not look real good tonight..... :banghead

I understand that Ross is having right shoulder problems and may be shutting down soon. Nothing serious but something is pinching.....more to follow

4-6 weeks for James......may be bringing up Abercrombie.....

News on Logan.....strained ligament in the right elbow....out for 4-6 weeks and will rehab in Jupiter....if all goes well he starts his throwing all over...60-90-120-180 etc.....do not look for a return this season until August sometime if then....

yes he was...anticipate him being out only about 4 days

that's what he did at Texas A&M...relief and closer.....just started becoming a started in pro ball....

come on Matt....this is your site......we will have to get a new CEO if you don't know everyone in the Marlins system.....

Jimmy Demontel of the Hammerheads is in Carolina taking the place of Kevin Cave who is out with a leg injury incurred in the 7th inning with a line drive striking his right leg.....heard it happen and it was not a pleasant sound nor was the outcome.....will post more news about that later Jimmy will be used as a set up guy for the 7th and 8th innings.....the relievers are a tired bunch of guys right now .....

no news yet on Logan....my informant tells me that he will know sometime this afternoon.....he really does want to be a bullpen guy and not a starter but what will be...will be

James is definetly out.......my informant said he did not take any BP last night...he and Muniz do look alot alike and if their uni #'s aren't showing it is hard to tell who is who.....Muniz will fill in admirably in left field.....

The latest on James.....he took BP tonight before the game...this kid does not want to sit out...the pain has to be tremendous.....not in the lineup however.....more to come

he got hit in the face with a fastball......hit off the ear portion of his helmet right into his cheek.....

James Shanks....L/F for the Mudcats suffered a fx of the jaw in 4 places...he is to be looked at once again this pm to see if a plate is needed to be inserted in place.....this is a tough loss for the Mudcats.....looks like Abercrombie might get a call...they really need help in the bullpen...only 6 relievers left...they are one short but the roster is full....now that James is out perhaps they will get either a reliever or another outfielder....Muniz will fill in admirably in left field and they also have Moore who can play left field.....tough decision to make....I would go with another arm....best wishes to James and hope he can come back before season's end

Logan is in Jupiter as I type.....MRI on that right elbow.....then to the doctor to review test results...then tomorrow will be told...he should be there for about 5-6 days...if nothing wrong...and that way he gets back to throwing etc...will most likely throw one game in extended and then head back to Carolina.....if there is a problem in the elbow then a new post will be done.....let's hope for the best....

Logan was seen by the physician in Raleigh today and things look good for him....so far.....he may still be headed to Jupiter for an MRI to be 100% certain....if nothing there then he comes back to Raleigh....if there is something there then he stays in Jupiter.....for treatment etc.....will advise once I hear something

Maverick do you have any updated information on Jeff Allison? We know he is in extended but nothing new has been posted. My source does not know and has not heard anything further. Just to let you know....Logan Kensing has seen the doctor in Raleigh today...could not find anything but he may still be headed to Jupiter for an MRI to get a look and see to be 100%...will update as I find out.....

I agree with both Wildman and Maverick.....time will tell in the long run who is who and who is where and when......alot of W's there.....

WE HAVE SO MANY SP AND RP IN THE SYSTEM NOW THAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO TRADE THEM AWAY FOR POSITION PLAYERS DOWN THE ROAD.....CATCHER IS NEEDED BADLY..... HERMIDA IN LEFT....REED IN CENTER......NEED A LEFT FIELDER....NEED A SECOND BASEMAN SOON AND ANDINO ON SHORT.....SEEMS THE MOST OBVIOUS QUESTION IS GOING TO BE CATCHER AND SECOND BASE....JUST A THOUGHT
