10 Best Sports Stories of 2005
MarlinGuru: Why is Resop not going to make it in the majors? When he got called up in the end of June he has just completed a year and a half pitching professionally....sounds to me like he has the right stuff once refined to have a pretty secure job in the future with MLB and in particular the Marlins....

Marlins ST practices
Sorry to bump this thread (I didnt want to make a new one). What time do the practices end for the Marlins? normally the players are off the fields around 1:00 pm or so unless they are doing some extra work...get there early for photos or signatures or stick around after they have eaten, showered and lifted for one on one with them as they leave the clubhouse.....

Who Will Be The Marlins Closer Next Year?
Beastie: Better get in shape fast...I'll get you an invite to ST and see what you've got
-
Marlins ST practices
If you look at my last name that might give you a hint of how I might have found out.....I have some inside knowledge about the Marlins and MLB in general.....I think there is a player with my last name on the roster....careful what you post about him....(kidding of course)....honesty is the best policy

Marlins ST practices
Pitchers/catchers report Feb 19....7:00 am in Jupiter....
-
Josh Willingham
If Willingham is in left field and Treanor behind the plate....who is the back up to Treanor? We have no one but Pierre in the bullpen......we have to be looking for someone...somewhere....are we really serious in getting Charles Johnson back? I know Gerardi wants a seasoned catcher to help the young pitchers.......

2006 Opening day 25 man roster
Since the lineup will change weekly or so it seems.....there are only Paul and Juan left to trade.....so surmising they are gone what is our 25 man roster going to look like for opening day?

Who the heck is gonna be in the bullpen next year?
All of the idiots who blew it for us at the end of this season. And who are the idiots?.....two pitchers who were rookies and you expexted them to do what? Come in and be super heroes? Takes more than just relief pitchers....plays need to e made....hitters need to get on base and runs need to be scored....seems to me it takes a whole team to win and a whole team to lose....these players are, whether or not you like it, are professional ball players...they worked their butts off to get where they are and are working hard to stay where they hope to be....and your experience in baseball is what? Watching from the other side of the fence? Step onto the field and we'll see who is an idiot

Giradi
Gerardi is the perfect manager for his new team.....the Marlins....seems everyone has jumped off the ship but the Captain and his young crew......stay with us...it will be a good year....No not a World Series but competitive....give these young players a chance...they are the future of baseball.....
-
Who Will you Root For Now?
MARLINS....until Chris Resop is traded....then his team
-
Beckett and Lowell traded to Red Sox
The 2006 Marlins team will be all young studs learning the game at the highest level...we need to support them...these young players will, one day, surprise alot of people when they are playing for a division title and believe me it will not take long.....These are some of the best first year players in the game today...give them a chance to play together and watch what happens
-
Andino
I would concur with that...Andino to second base with Ramirez having taken his place.....the attitude in the AFL did not help Andino at all....
-
Beckett and Lowell traded to Red Sox
So now what do we do with Andino???? Perhaps if he had put more effort in the AFL that trade would not have happened.....it will be a very interesting year.......we're picking up sticks in 2006.....it will be a great season....wait till 2007 and 2008 with these young players....this will be the team to beat in the future....

players
I see # 51 all the time...will be seeing Kensing and Hermida soon as well

Baseball America names Top 10 Prospects for 2005
I surmise that Vargas is no longer considered a prospect since he is a starter....What about Resop? I would have thought he might have made the top 10 prospects or is he in the same boat as Vargas having played in so many games with the parent club......

STARTING ROTATION SET...WHO FOR THE BULLPEN
I don't think anyone is saying that Resop is going to be this year's closer or are they? Set up guy would be best for him right now since he has so little experience pitching at the professional level.....give him two years and he will be ready to close...he has the mentality but needs to work on that slider and have confidence when he throws it and the change up....his two seam fastball is really his out pitch but he rarely threw it last season in AA....reason being...he could get outs with a 4 seam and a breaking pitch...not so in the bigs.....just my take on this subject
-
STARTING ROTATION SET...WHO FOR THE BULLPEN
Since we have the starting rotation set, who is in line for bullpen work? If Jones does not resign with the Marlins who closes? Looper? Please you have to be kidding
-
TOP TEN PROSPECTS FOR 2006
I have only been on board for a short time but the latest post is the best statement I have read yet...Let Hermida be Hermida first and foremost.....remember he is only a kid....21 yrs old...he will post his numbers and they are what they are.....some succeed and some fail...it's a great game.....like being in the jungle...only the best survive.....
-
TOP TEN PROSPECTS FOR 2006
Who are the Marlins' top 10 prospects for 2006 as Baseball America is getting their annual prospect book ready....... after the top 10 who might round out the top 20? #1 Hermida #2 Olsen #3 Vargas

What's Bump's status?
Fish Tank: Who would fit into your bullpen plans for 2006 since the only one left is Todd Jones.....you had 2 rookies in the pen this year.....and the rest were veterans.....payroll is an issue....guess you have no faith in the rookies.....these two were 24 and 22 yrs old....yea they were not a Willis but they have great potential.....one kid just now finished his 2nd yr of professional pitching.....your thoughts are always welcome
-
BULLPEN FOR 2006
Obviously the bullpen needs to be revamped in it's entirety, is there anyone that we keep for 2006?
-
AZ Fall league
Logan is on his way to Arizona tomorrow as a matter of fact...arm is great....Andino is due to fly out Sunday night after the final season game in Miami....he is not happy about that....wants to spend some time with his wife and kids....not likely that his wishes will come true....
-
Marlins 2006 Needs
Resop is ready for MLB but when you have bicep tendinitis it's tough to get your pitches for strikes....this is only his 2nd yr of pitching and he has not done too badly....yes he had 4 crappy games but there is some talent there....some refinement of his breaking pitch and/or slider and he could become very dominant next year....
-
BOOTLEG POLL: To many kids in the pool?
While I agree the Philly is not a great pitching stadium for the Marlins....it is for the Phillies for some reason.....tough on the arms of the bullpen when you have to use 4 of them instead of 2 or 3 at best.....makes them better players actually and the young arms will learn from this....pitching is 70% mental and 30% physical....

Congrats Chris Resop...
seems like only yesterday I was catching him in little league......how time flies....but what a flight!!!!!!! Attaboy Chris
