Best Late Bloomers?
Travis Hafner is a fine example, most people don't realize he's actually 29 right now.

Joe Borchard is the Messiah
Good to see Borchard has caught on somewhere where he can actually play consistantly. Most Sox fans are cheering for him, including I. He has a ton of talent and if he ever finds a way to harness it and avoid striking out in 1/2 his ABs he'll be a pretty productive player.

White Sox looking not just at AJ
The possibility would remain to move Crede to another team and put Uribe at 3rd and Gonzalez at short... 875305 Yet the resurgance of Crede plus the fact that he as well as Uribe is a GG caliber thirdbaseman (Uribe at SS) would say that a trade involving Crede would be unlikely. Unless the two herniated discs in his back become a problem then the Sox could be in the market for a 3B or SS, however the chances of that happening are slim to none.

Gammons on Boog show at 3:00
Ill tell you this now, the White Sox will NOT give up Anderson, McCarthy and Marte for Burnett especially since Burnett wont sign a long term deal with them until hes tested the market 875256 Agreed, in fact I have heard no talk at all of Anderson being moved in any trade other than to Milwaukee for Overbay but even then they'd be reluctant to give up Anderson. The Sox aren't giving up their top two prospects (McCarthy and B.Anderson) + Marte for A.J. Burnett especially if they can't sign him to an extention.

White Sox looking not just at AJ
I heard that the White Sox wanted Alex Gonzalez... 875210 Umm no. The only SS rumors involving the White Sox are for Omar Vizquel. 875215 Who are you? I'm pretty sure you aren't the White Sox GM... I heard that the White Sox were interested in Alex Gonzalez and it makes sense. Their starting SS is Juan Uribe and he's hitting .238, their manager is ex-marlin 3rd base coach and Venezuelan Ozzie Guillen who is good friends with Alex. Gonzalez. 875222 Ozzie Guillen is good friends with everyone except Magglio Ordonez. The White Sox have absolutly no need for Alex Gonzalez. You obvioulsy havn't seen many Sox games if all you're going on is stats for Uribe. He's a GG caliber SS with an arm comparible to Furcal's. His average is low right now but he's also one of the streakiest hitters in baseball. I may not be the Kenny Williams but I know what the Sox need/don't need. They have no use for Gonzalez. 875229 That's why you even said there are rumors for them being interested in SHORTSTOP omar vizquel? 875286 The Vizquel to the White Sox trade was conditional on the fact that Crede would be sent to San Fran as part of a deal for Schmidt. This way the Sox would recieve Schmidt and Vizquel then move Uribe to third seeing how he's capable of playing three different infield positions. And since the Marlins have no interest in Crede, the Sox would have no use for Gonzalez.

does the poor start from McCarthy bother anyone? I know it's his first season so it's no big deal, just wondering. 874236 He's not ready for the bigs. He was awesome in A ball last year at the beginning of the year and was just as good in AA ball at the end of the season. He had a ridiculous spring training with the big club and they rushed him. The Sox made him thier #6 starter and when el Duque went down they brought him up. He was great against the Cubs in his ML debut but was pretty bad afterwords. He's just not ready to face ML hitters, he doesn't have full confidence in throwing his changeup in the bigs which is his best pitch and he does rely on it. McCarthy is not ML ready but will be a very good starter in the future, it's just going to take 1 or 2 years.

The Chi Sox deal with Contreras and Marte is still better... Decent starter and a great reliever opposed to a waivers reliever and a good starter. Go with the Chi Sox! 874130 Here in Chicago ESPN 1000 was reporting McCarthy and Marte for Burnett with Contreras going to the bullpen. The White Sox tried to trade for Contreras back in June of 2004 to make him a closer, but Kevin Brown went on the DL so the Yanks didn't give him up. 874204 So Contreras would go to the bullpen for the Sox is, right? 874210 Either him or El Duque, I would say most likely it would be Hernandez going to the pen but it seems the word in Chicago is that Contreras will be pitching in relief.

Go with the Chi Sox! 874130 Contreras is not a part of any deal. It's McCarthy and Marte. Contreras could be thrown in an expanded deal but the chances of that happening are slim. If the White Sox do end up making a deal for Burnett they will most likely not include Jose Contreras in any trade. He will be kept for depth. If McCarthy (White Sox current #6 starter) were to be traded along with Contreras they would have nobody to backup the rotation if El Duque went down again with another injury. Most likely Contreras will not be traded.

jonnyf1shfan Posted Today, 03:47 PM QUOTE(FreshFish @ Jul 25 2005, 4:46 PM) Gammons is as reliable as any media guy. btw, he pounded the table on 03 and claimed that the Lowell deal to the Cubs was inminent that not saying much! Tweek Posted Today, 03:47 PM You shouldn't believe anything Gammons says. The guy is as unreliable as they come when it comes to trade specualation. I wouldn't say Gammons is reliable but for the Red Sox? this guy is basically part of the Red Sox front office. If anybody knows whats up with the Red Sox is him. 874122 That's just it. Peter Gammons is extremely biased when it comes to anything dealing with the Red Sox. So when he mentions them in anylight with another team I usually take it with a grain of salt.
