Gaby having some uncharacteristically dumb at bats, 2 Strikeouts... although that last pitch to him was tough even though it was low. yeah i kno it was tough but hes chased a bunch of pitches out of the zone.

they need to stop bsing and pretending its something to do with his mechanics. his arm is dead. he cant strike people out anymore. they bought a lemon. if koehler has another good start down there, id call him up. vazquez has been a disaster and theres no sense in parading him out there when its obvious he doesnt have it

u should add a choice for ramos and his brilliant hitting there in the 9th.

i hope everyone realizes the effect of hanley taking his time up there during his at bat. completely threw off losche

that was a real nice at bat. the key to it was calling time and then taking his time walking back after that foul call

not a bad idea to argue there. volstad hasnt gotten that call like 3 times today.

lohse has gotten every borderline call.

ugh this game just looks like one of those days. first game of a series after travelling and we have our worse pitcher going against one of their best.

with volstad were just buying time until sanabia or maybe koehler can get a shot. volstad won himself a few more starts with that performance last time out, but its really only a matter of time until hes out of the rotation.

difference between this years Marlins and last years team: Our hitters, even though they cant get the runners in, have managed to drive up volquezs pitch count. the benefit of having cody ross, cantu and uggla out of the lineup is we dont have very many 6 or 7 pitch innings. this team still chases bad pitches a little too much, but they are much better than theyve been the last few years.

JJ might only get 5 or 6 innings tonight. yeah prob. the good news is volquez wont go any further and we got into their bullpen yesterday pretty early too. sets us up well for tonight and tomorrow even.

ugh. they need to stop chasing pitches out of the zone. this guy is having problems throwing strikes and hanley and gaby bailed him out in their at bats by swinging at bad pitches. Yeah, almost hitting the ball out of the ball park is bailing him out. What? And yeah, Hanley was called out on a pitch that was not a strike. Hanley swung at a pitch earlier out of the zone and got himself in a deeper hole putting his at bat at the discretion of the umpire. he did a similar thing in his previous at bat and the same result occurred with him just swinging and missing. sure gaby hit a deep shot, but again because it wasnt in the zone just couldnt get it out. its hard to hit balls out of the zone. my point is they need to be patient up there with volquez. hes got good stuff, but obviously doesnt have it tonight. hes all over the place. they arent doing a bad job of it either, but the middle of their lineup isnt doing anything partly because they have chased bad pitches.

on the bright side, volquez's pitch count is way up. the downside is the middle of our lineup hasnt done anything so we arent scoring. but thats the flaw of the lineup. inconsistent power so were gonna strand alot of runners.
