  1. My hope is that baseball comes under enough pressure and they put in a salary floor. In my opinion, that will be the move that finally pushes Loria out.
  2. The Marlins are going to do the most short-sighted, idiotic thing they can do. In this situation they are going to surround Stanton with nothing and he will have a down year destroying his trade value. They will offer a contract at some point that Stanton would be insane to accept. He will get moved for some B level prospects some point after because he will have a depressed value. He will go on to have a great career. Its kind of like the whole firesale thing to begin with. In Loria's short sighted view of making money, he missed the longer term benefit off not poisoning the fanbase and destroying the value of the team. Loria will hold onto the team for a couple of years and sell it for far less than he could have got if he had just kept it somewhat intact. He will wait for a few years when the team is still awful, the attendance is averaging below 5k a game, the tv ratings are terrible, the merchandise sales have plummeted to sell so he doesnt have to share in the sale price. The team's value will be rock bottom and then he will sell because thats the kind of businessman he is: stupid.
  3. Youd have to be insane to sign a long term deal here if youre Stanton or anyone. Why would anyone want to play for this organization that trades away everyone before their contract expires? Why put your family through this type of sh*t of getting up and moving around on the whims of some rat weasel art owner?
  4. Id take samson and loria being replaced. with the stadium and all i think its fair to assume theyd make a good profit from what they got the team for.
  5. Ive been pretty anti-Beinfest/Hill but if Loria was involved with the Bell and Buck signings like they say he is, then I have trouble faulting them for his stupidity. I hope if they bring someone in, it will be someone who has the sway to get Loria to butt out of baseball decisions since hes pretty terrible at that.
  6. Rangers arent being dumb. They dont like JJ, and apparently neither do alot of other teams.
  7. Gaby is useless so whatever. I like the draft pick, but this FO has been atrocious drafting players so I guess Ill wait to pass judgment.
  8. Its looked to me all year that JJ is no longer an ace as it seems hes lost his fastball. It looks like some scouts for other teams feel the same way. That being said, if we arent prying away a few top prospects for him, he still has value to us and shouldnt be traded. Let him chew up innings for us while we actually develop our younger guys in the minors. He might even be able to regain some form and be a Buerhle type pitcher.
  9. buck's only homer of the season when we were already up 6-2. asshole. He hit one earlier in the year. Its his second. But this puts him on normal HR track for himself unlike the entire middle of our order. What? I misread what he said. I thought he said Buck hit a homer earlier and seeing as though Im following online, I thought he hit another
  10. buck's only homer of the season when we were already up 6-2. asshole. Sorry misread ur post.
  11. they should be moving on now. if he comes, great but i think albert is getting cold feet.
  12. well its obviously not "done" and the more it drags on, the less good I feel.
  13. Gruden to the Hurricanes done?
  14. We don't need a first baseman. We have a first baseman. We, on the other hand, do not have a #2 starter, and could use an upgrade on #5. agree but its hard not to get excited for albert pujols if they sign him
  15. definitely how the marlins should play it - press for an answer and let them know that as much as you'd love to make the deal if they aren't willing to sign they will have to pursue other interests and there is no guarantee that those terms would ever be back on the table the cardinals have every right to counter and have earned the position at the table for last look - this is their look agree. if they dont have an answer by tonight, start moving on.
