xtra innings in last nights game
Ok I pose this question on the Marlins message board so Im guessing I know what the overall opinion will be before I post it, but I still want to post it in the hopes that it gives us some good logical conversation... Last night the best of each bullpen pitched in the extra innings. The cubbies sent out Farnsworth for 2, remlinger for 1/3, borrowski for 2 innings, and 2 of their bad pitchers pitched the 11th. While Chad Fox pitched 2, Ugeth pitched 2, and Looper pitched 1. Even though they may pitch tonight both closers will be tired, and both closers gave up runs in their inning the 9th. Who does this benefit the most? Now I answer my own question. I think that it benefits Florida more for the simple reason that our pen is deeper especially sense Pavano looks like he has been moved into the pen. The simple fact remains that is the fish can stay close while Wood pitches, and get into his pitch count then the chances of us seeing a bum such as Dave Veres late in the game. Also you may say that Remlinger pitched to only 2 batters last night, but IMHO he will be a non-factor in this series except for pitching to Juanie poo beings that all the other Marlins bat Righty (except for a couple pitchers.) Agreed; the Cubs only have 3 good relievers, and if just one of them is unavailable for any given game, advantage: Marlins. But remember that Wood, like Prior and Zambrano, has the ability to throw 130 tonight.

Florida Marlins @ Chicago Cubs -- NLCS Game 2
This is a game were not supposed to win and this is a game the Cubs have to win. So if we could steal this one it could be devastating for the Cubs. Great point, especially considering the Cubs have to win to avoid going to Miami with an 0-2 hole. Be scared of Prior, don't be scared of Wood.

Excuse my ignorance, but where do the Marlins play? In Miami, a suburb of Miami, or a different city?

Small analysis of the Cubs from a Chicagoan
Also, its Very Important to Get In The Flubs HEADS EARLY. When you guys SEE MARK PRIOR, YELL PANTYHOSE really loudly (he wears Blue Womens PantyHose under his pants) Hanger, I haven't heard about this. Who does Prior think he is? What a ripoff of Nick LaLoosh(sp).

Small analysis of the Cubs from a Chicagoan
ESPN's scouting on Aramis: Scouting Report: Another "five-days-a-week player'' & Very streaky at the plate & At third base, has a good backhand and a strong arm he loves to show off, sometimes to his detriment ... Careless in the field (33 errors) ... Slow charging the ball ... A speed team like the Marlins might try to exploit that weakness by bunting on him. -- J.C. And on 1B Randall Simon Scouting Report: A good "bad ball'' hitter who steps to the plate in hacking mode ... Walks only slightly more often than the Cubs win the World Series & One NL coach: To get him out, throw the ball down the middle of the plate & His swing is gearing toward pulling the ball & In the field, Simon has bad hands and slow feet. -- J.C. That's two poor fielders at the corners...It says Ramirez has a good arm, but if he can't get to the ball quick enough it won't matter. Great point Mabdul; if we know about Ramirez, I'm sure Pierre and Castillo know about him. I didn't notice Ramirez slow getting to bunts, but I don't doubt it. From the sounds of it, the Marlins probably don't even need very good bunts to get hits. From what I've seen the Cubs first baseman Randall Simon, he's not a below average defensive player. In fact, he's one of the best at leading a pitcher to first base on plays where he can't reach the bag himself. Obviously, this is a small part of the entire defensive package, but I think it's worthy to mention since Marlins bunters should not bunt towards first for hits (IMHO). So if you guys can relay this to the Marlins bench, we should be in business.

Small analysis of the Cubs from a Chicagoan
I asked you Marlins fans what to expect from your team in another thread, so I thought you'd appreciate some knowledge of your opponent from a fan that cheered against them all season. The Cubs only have three good bullpen pitchers; closer Joe Borowski; right-handed fireballer Kyle Farnsworth; and lefty Mike Remlinger. If you face anyone else consider it a small victory and expect to score that inning. Because Dusty Baker allowed his starters to total high pitch counts the entire year, don?t expect a Cubs starter to tire early (even on shortened rest) allowing you to see anyone other than the 3 bullpen pitchers I just mentioned (unless in a blowout). If you want to get the Cubs starters out of the game early, you must score enough for Baker to take him out, or hope he leaves due to injury: You cannot ?wait out? the Cubs starters. Their arms and stamina has been built up the entire season; they are too strong. I, like many others here, think you can beat them with speed and plate patience. If Marlins hitters consistently show Wood early that they won?t swing at his pitches that would be balls, Wood will become rattled and proceed to labor ? taking his mind out of the game. Pay attention to balls hit to Aramis Ramirez, the Cubs third baseman. He is a horrible defensive player, with throwing being his worst defensive attribute (IMHO). I have noticed often him throwing to second base for a close force out instead of throwing all the way to first base for the last out of the inning because he is not confident in his throwing accuracy. With your speed players, I expect Ramirez?s accuracy to cause even more problems and will cost the Cubs one game in the Marlins series sweep of the North Side flamers.

Lowell, starting rotation, etc.
Hello Marlins fans, I don't know much about your team and would like a little cheat sheet to refer to during this series. For starters, how about telling me about Mike Lowell? I heard he got hurt, but did not hear how and what he hurt and whether he will be 100% for this series. I'm not looking for you to disect your team in any great detail; even the basic knowledge of your team would be informative to me since I have not followed the Marlins at all this year. Does anyone know the pitching matchups?

Regarding Conine's throw home......
I've seen replays of Conine's throw and that was more of an intelligent throw than athletic. Notice on his throw, he short arms it because he didn't have time to "load up and fire," and because his distance from homeplate didn't warrant such a full throw. Accuracy and getting the ball out of his hands as quick as possible was the key to throwing out Snow. Intelligent, veteran throw.

Man, there are going to be so many brawls in the stands in PPS this weekend. People going to the game should do a blue-blackout. Don't wear teal: just silver and black. Or something like that because teal and blue are very different colors. Either way I will have my Sammy Sosa Cork shirt on with my Dontrelle jersey unbuttoned. Another Chicagoan Sox fan transformed Marlins fan. Nice suggestion of colors. For those of you going to the games, nothing pisses off Cubs fans more than Sox attire. So grab a black Sox hat, a Magglio jersey and win this series in the same manner the Sox won their 2003 regular season series over the cubs 4 games to two. And do us Sox fans a favor: After each game you win, rub it into their faces without mercy.
