October 6, 200322 yr Just a little food for thought, but I have the distinct feeling that if Miguel Cabrera's in left field instead of Conine when Jeffrey Hammonds hits that ball, Cabrera's diving for it. Not sure why I think that, maybe because he's so confident or hasn't played much left field. Took a vet like Conine to slow things down, weigh his options in that split-second, understand that a missed dive could cost them 2 runs and realize that Snow's a slow runner & could be caught at the plate with a good throw. Nothing against Cabs at all, I just think in that situation Conine's experience paid off. Just an opinion. Any thoughts?
October 6, 200322 yr Cabs dives for it... hell Jeff said he was thinking about diving for it too.... i like Lowell's d at 3rd better and 9er's d in LF better... but that isnt taking anything away for Cabrera
October 6, 200322 yr good point, it would of been a completely different situation because Cabrera has a rocket of an arm so i dont think j.t. snow would of been sent home anyways.
October 6, 200322 yr anyone think cab's has one of the best arms in the game? or atleast might develop into one of the best Outfield arms in the game?
October 6, 200322 yr oh yeah :thumbup have u seen the accuracy of his throws too?? this kid is gonna be something.
October 6, 200322 yr I've seen him compared to a young Vladdy Guerrero with more power As of now Guerrero has more Power then does Cabrera but I belive Cabrera has 40+ HR power potential. He's going to be a huge star.
October 6, 200322 yr And Cabrera is a professional hitter. He can hit any pitch to any field on any count, and he'll usually hit it with some pop. I heard somewhere that nearly 50% of his hits were for extra bases this season, but I'm too lazy to check.
October 6, 200322 yr Author Cabs reminds me of A-Rod at the plate for some reason. Looks very calm & has great plate coverage. & yeah, that comment wasn't taking away anything from Miguel, I think he's a flat-out stud. But Conine was the man there. Said it was the best play he's ever made in his life. (He's certainly made more spectacular ones, heck the catch over the wall the day before was more dynamic, but you'll never see a play with anything more riding on it than when Conine charged, set, & gunned that ball home.) It seemed like he never even caught the ball, just changed its path, turned it around in one motion & sent it on its way home in a flash.
October 6, 200322 yr I have confidence in all three of them. Niner, Cbas, and Lowell are all ok to me.

October 6, 200322 yr I've seen replays of Conine's throw and that was more of an intelligent throw than athletic. Notice on his throw, he short arms it because he didn't have time to "load up and fire," and because his distance from homeplate didn't warrant such a full throw. Accuracy and getting the ball out of his hands as quick as possible was the key to throwing out Snow. Intelligent, veteran throw.
