High School SS Conner Barron Covered him in high school this year. Not sure he'll stay at short (solid defensively, but not sure he has major league ability there), and only played the position as a senior. He was a 2B before that, which is where most people seem to project him long term. Good swing and can hit for power. Not fastest guy in the world, but decent running ability and smart baserunner. Well coached on a high school team that just won its fourth straight state championship, threatened the national record at one point with 67 straight victories, and posted an undefeated season that landed them ranked No. 1 in the nation. He was their 3-hitter this year, hit .490, slugged over .900 with eight homers, 11 doubles and four triples. Exciting to see a kid I know go to my favorite team. He's a very good kid, so there's no question about his character. But he did sign with Southern Miss, and was not sure whether he was going to still head to college or not. He was drafted about where he thought he might be (no slipping to dissuade him from signing), but he seemed very much 50/50 and was patiently waiting things out. As soon as I know something, I'll post.

By the way, John Lannan was at 7 pitches through 2 innings. Guys tend to swing early in the count as well, so it's not uncommon for pitch counts to be very low.

I don't have that package but thanks for letting me know! You could probably just subscribe to MLB TV for just spring training (or 30 days) and then cancel it. But you have to take into account whatever blackout restrictions that might apply. I like that idea, especially considering I might be on campus during some of those days. If you take this route make sure you cancel MLB TV the second you are done with it. They are constantly trying to auto-renew stuff. At least that's been my experience with them. Two seasons ago they tried to start charging me monthly subscription fees for the off-season because I could get access to their archives. Just pay for the monthly rate (not the full season) and just plan to pay/watch for the one month. You used to be able to just buy single games for like $2/game. Too bad they don't do that anymore. That would be great for spring training. Also, make sure you just choose the monthly subscription, because I don't believe you'd get a refund for the rest of the season. And like was said, make sure you cancel immediately, because otherwise it will roll over and you'll be charged for the next month.

I just thought I'd say hello and introduce myself, as I'm new to the site and the forum. My name is Josh, and I've been a Marlins fan since their inception. I'm currently a sports writer in central Pennsylvania. I went to Miami (Oh) after going to high school in Florida, where I lived for about five years. Of course, I was a Fish fan before I moved down there. I think as a kid I saw a new team that was fresh and without history, and as a kid that was something I could identify with, so I hopped on board. Kind of a weird irony that I then moved to south Florida and that even later had family move into the team's front office (don't hold that against me). I guess it was fate. Anyway, I'm a die-hard Marlins fan and recently stumbled across the website and the forum (I think through Twitter?), and thought it would be nice to have some sort of connection with other Marlins fans, especially since I must watch from afar. I look forward to posting and getting involved in discussions.

I got a 108. Not very good. To be fair, I did waste a lot of time trying to figure out how the hell to spell "Derrek" Lee. I swore I typed in Jeremy hermida too, but I must have typoed, because it didn't take it. I got last year's 100%, as well as '97. Then most of the 2005-present I got all but maybe one player a season (seriously, Mark hendrickson?). It's funny how many of the early era guys I remembered just from my baseball cards I collected at the time (Arias, Weiss, Abbott). '98 I came up empty on Booty (completely forgot about him) and Jackson, and Preston Wilson completely vacated my brain for the next chunk of years. Also funny how many guys I could vividly picture, but had to dig deep to spit out names (Millar, Santiago). Fun quiz. I'd be interested to look over the answers, then come back in a week and see how much better I could. Guarantee there'd still be guys I couldn't remember.

Good to see Matty go yard.... Had no clue Berkman was on the Cards. Is he going to be there everyday RF? If so, their CF better have JP speed because they have to cows in left and right... Anibal 15 pitches 10 strikes, only 1 walk, pretty much around the plate all day.... I like it Is that definate or taken from Gameday/box score? They dont record pitch counts in Spring games. That is the stat they have in the boxscore.
