A friend of mine was killed in Iraq
May God bless Stapleton and his family and you, too. I have been there, and know very well how much it hurts. My older brother was killed in Viet Nam. Soldiers do not die in vain. I honor them.

Martinez or Castor?
Yesterday I voted! I was really stuck between Castor and Martinez as I am not too crazy about both of them so I decided to go with Betty Castor. Martinez seems like a bigotry to me. :confused

This team is dragging
Only thing I am sad about is that ... soon the Marlins season will be over and I'd have to wait next year to see them play again. They've been awesome! They always will be The WS Champ regardless of what happens this season. Not once but TWICE in 7 years! And they did beat the Rich, Best Players Only Money Can Buy, YANKEES, in the House of Babe Ruth at 100th year Anniversary. :notworthy

Arriola's on WQAM with good stadium news
N-Nole, I was born and raised in Tallahassee, but have lived here in Miami for the last 15 years now. I will be going back to Tally in about 2 years, but I have to tell you this, I will miss palm trees, stucco houses, the tropics, bourgainvillea, plumeria, wonderful breeze, better climate, etc. Miami will always be a part of my life because I have lived and worked here. Personally I prefer Florida Marlins, but if it changes to Miami Marlins, I don't see why not?? To me, Miami is not "South Florida", but is capital of the Caribbeans, magical city in its own right. Originally I was a Brave fan, but more of a baseball fan. I moved down here in 1989 and the Marlins came in 1993 which delighted me. We have many great baseball players who are from the Caribbeans. When it changes to "Miami Marlins", think of it like "Miami Dolphins" which used to dominate the NFL, "Miami Vice", CSI:Miami. I think they should have been called Miami Marlins in the first place. The Marlins are so very special and I will always follow them. It's so much better than seeing them move to D.C. or Viriginia or Las Vegas and they probably wouldn't be "Marlins" anymore since it'd be like Fish out of Water if they moved out of Miami. Go Marlins! :thumbup

News on Stadium
City of Miami Beach is having a special meeting for commissioners tomorrow afternoon at 2pm about the fund for convention upgrades and Marlins new ball park. It sounds like the commissioners of Miami Beach are going to fight to get money for their convention upgrades rather have fund money for a new ballpark. Keep your fingers crossed that the new ballpark wins out.

Do any of the Marlins ever visit this site!
We used to chat with Matt Mantei's Dad back then on AOL board in 1998 when Matt was with the Marlins so I am very sure lots of players' families read this board as well as the players themselves. If any of you are lurking, I LOVE THE MARLINS, THEM ALL!! And THANK YOU! Everyone of them! They've been awesome!

team name change...
Did anyone see this morning news? (Local Fox Channel 7) It says the Marlins agree to change from Florida Marlins to Miami Marlins if Miami helps them get a new ballpark. Actually I like the name Florida Marlins. I am originally from Tallahassee (where I was born) and grew up in Jacksonville so I was a Braves fan even when I moved down to South Florida (I live in Homestead and work in downtown Miami) 15 years ago, but the Marlins stole my heart when I watched them on TV in 1997, taking out SF Giants even before they won 1997 WS Champ and have been a Marlins fan since then. I will return back home to Tallahassee in a few years and would prefer Marlins to stay Florida Marlins, but if it helps them get a new ballpark, then it's fine by me, I'd always follow them. How about putting Teal back on their uniforms? I actually like their new uniforms, but Teal needs to show up more like maybe Logo/letter on their uniforms and caps and Fans wear Teal, Teal Flags, etc. If Teal doesn't show and they're more like "Men in Black" so why not name them "Miami Vice" LOL

I read that Mark Kotsay said he read Marlins forum on AOL while back (1998 when he was with the Marlins) so expect most of players reading here. I found this site through MLB Marlins forum so can they! :thumbup

Marlins vs Yankees---8:00pm---at the PRO
David Wells was lifted due to his back hurting?? Yeah, serves him right for making fun of "old people's hip problems in Florida" I was born and raised here in Florida so have my parents, my grandparents, great-grandparents (Northern Florida, very Southern). He obviously is ignorant and thinks Florida is the State for old people only.
