A friend of mine was killed in Iraq

Featured Replies

Please don't start a debate, I'm only asking for prayers and telling you a story of a slain soldier.

He was a friend of mine since kindergarten. He grew up about a mile from where I did. We went to school together every year. He even got in a car accident with my mom.

Josh graduated in the Bruton High School class of 2004, in Williamsburg, VA, along with myself, and went off to boot camp in the United States Marine Corps.

He made it through and became a Marine, one of the greatest achievements any person can make.

Last monday, just outside of the green zone, near Baghdad, Josh and his fellow soldiers were lured into a mine field by small arms fire.

He took two bullets to the chest area, but was wearing body armor, and kept on charging. About 30 yards later, he stepped on a mine and was killed instantly.

Politics aside (please), he died bravely, and doing what he believed in, charging forward selflessly.

I salute him, and please join me in doing so. Please pray for our community and especially the Stapleton family.

We are deeply saddened by this loss.

May God bless our troops. †

I'm sorry for your loss. This kind of tragedy just reinforces my reasoning for this war being unnecessary.

I know you have your opinions. But do you mind leaving them out of this thread? Thank you.

He died doing the most patriotic and honorable action anyone can ever do. Above being mourned he should be commended for his courage and sacrifice.

Dodge, I send you my condolences. You friend is a hero and will always be remembered as a hero. Much love and God bless you all. *hugs*

I'm sorry. I send my condolences. :(

A fallen hero.

I feel for your loss and hope he gets his just reward for the service he took upon himself.

My condolences to you and the Stapleton family... God bless him. He is a hero and may God bless his soul.

May God bless Stapleton and his family and you, too. I have been there, and know very well how much it hurts. My older brother was killed in Viet Nam.

Soldiers do not die in vain. I honor them.

Condolences for your friend CF. Life is more precious than we realize.

I hope however, not to feel your pain. A very close friend of mine, Justin Deschaine, is being deployed to Iraq in December. I'm going home for Thanksgiving to see him.

My sympathies go out to his friends and family.

He obviously died doing something he believed in.

He surely must be sitting close to God.
