Gaby Sanchez to Pirates for Gorkys Hernandez
That's crazy but yeah, good for him. Hopefully he gets at least a .700 OPS so he doesn't embarrass himself. That's a big risk to take for a team competing for a playoff spot.

Gaby Sanchez to Pirates for Gorkys Hernandez
I love this trade for two reasons: 1) the pick 2) No gaby sanchez means one less player to f*ck with LoMo's chances of taking over 1B next season.

Gaby Sanchez to Pirates for Gorkys Hernandez
I'm LOLing that Gorkys will be on the ML squad. Between Cousins, Peterson and Gorkys we currently have one of, if not the very worst hitting outfields in the MLB I was about to say that. Other than Ruggiano our OF has got to be worse than some AAA teams. But when Stanton comes back, Ruggz in CF or LF, we'll only have one sh*t starter out there.

JJ Rumors
Originally a pretty good prospect but has faltered so far this year, let's see what he can do. We didn't give up that much, but he'll at worst give us what Hanley was giving us, less power a little more hitting. The worst that could happen. On the plus side, he KNOWS his position. This could work out Yea, except we're not paying Cox 16M... Regardless, I don't think he's ready. As far as I'm concerned we still have a hole at 3B opening 2013. But Zack Cox is a better prospect to develop and have waiting in the wings for 3B than Matt Dominguez was.

Some like him but I'm completely over the Gaby Sanchez experience. I still have love for Coghlan and LoMo though.

http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=3B&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=543059 Check out his stuff, he has a .716 OPS this year in the PCL. He'll need more time. More like a 2013 call-up...

According to fangraph, the 5th best prospect of the Cardinals organization. 5. Zack Cox, 3B BORN: May 9, 1989 EXPERIENCE: 2 seasons ACQUIRED: 2010 1st round, University of Arkansas 2010-11 TOP 10 RANKING: 2nd The Cardinals’ first pick of the 2010 draft, Cox was considered one of the top pure hitters available. He proved that by hitting more than .300 and reaching double-A in his first full pro season. Although he should hit a stout .280-.300 as a big leaguer, there are questions about his power potential. His isolated power rate was just .139 after his promotion to double-A but he does show solid gap power and that could improve as he gains experience and learns better pitch selection. There are also questions about Cox’s ability to remain at third base due to modest range and so-so foot work. Some have suggested a move to second base but he’s not the most agile. A corner outfield spot might make more sense, although range could become an issue again. The former first rounder could receive an opening day assignment to triple-A and will soon be breathing down the neck of incumbent third baseman

We're going to give Lee his walking papers if we don't trade him. I doubt we're looking for much of anything at all in return. I'm thinking Matt Garza might be linked to the DBacks and Patrick Corbin. And yes, I meant as in today and yesterday. Overall we have been active, yes indeed.
-
JJ Rumors
It's really disappointing from an excitement standpoint when you think your team is going to be extremely active right before the deadline and it turns out the only Marlins news in past few hours have all been about how we're dying to get rid of Carlos Lee for anything. Even some peanuts and crackerjacks, I don't care if he never comes back.

JJ Rumors
I've read the Rangers connected to Jonathan Broxton and the Royals, Shields and the Rays, Jared Burton and the Twins, and ... and no JJ and Marlins!! Pretty sure that the only trades we'll make is like Carlos Lee to someone really random for a fringe player and maybe something with the Diamondbacks. Maybe Patrick Corbin for Nolasco.

Trevor Bauer, A.J. Pollock, Matt Davidson, and Tyler Skaggs for JJ and cash considerations. Called it if it goes down You dream big kid, you dream big. :sleeping :idea

JJ Rumors
Dodgers acquired Victorino, wooo. Like I said, most moves are Dodgers, Phillies, and Cubbies so far... and pretty much all rumors involve one of those teams. Where are the Marlins and Rangers and DBacks and BlueJays in all of this? dammit. :poke

JJ Rumors
I doubt anything happens with the D'Backs, I feel they're in a similar situation as us. They want to trade Drew and his contract because they're winning without him and they probably feel about Upton a similar way in which we felt about Hanley. Big contract, not living up to it, needs a change of scenery, etc. They have lots of ML ready type prospects like when they called up Goldschmidt and he's playing really well for them, wouldn't be surprised if they move Upton and then stick Pollock or someone else there. What I'm trying to say, I doubt we trade JJ on a trade centered around Upton and his contract and I don't see AZ trading us their best prospects. $6.75 million in 2012, $9.75 million in 2013, $14.25 million in 2014 and $14.5 million in 2015. Uptons contract.

JJ Rumors
I know nothing about the diamondbacks but they seem desperate for a ace. I can see something go down there. Where is Skaggs ranked as a prospect 2. Archie Bradley, RHP (19) - Ranked #25 Overall by Baseball America Team W L SV ERA WHIP G IP H K/9 BB/9 HR/9 Missoula (Rk) 0 0 0 0.00 0.50 2 2.0 1 18.00 0.00 0.00 Bradley was the #7 pick in last June's draft, and the second high school pitcher taken after Dylan Bundy. Bradley is very polished for a high school pitcher, and already has a mid 90s fastball and an excellent curve. He was very impressive in the Fall Instructional League, with his stuff as well as his make-up, and some in the organization felt that he was already the best prospect in the system (over Bauer). He needs to work on his changeup as a third pitch, but most expect him to advance rapidly through the Minors. There is always a huge amount of risk with high school pitchers, but Bradley is about as good as a high school prospect can be. He will probably start 2012 in Class A South Bend, with 2014 penciled in for his Major League debut. 3. Tyler Skaggs, LHP (20) - Ranked #13 Overall by Baseball America Team W L SV ERA WHIP G IP H K/9 BB/9 HR/9 Visalia (Hi A) 5 5 0 3.22 1.14 17 100.2 81 11.18 3.04 0.54 Mobile (AA) 4 1 0 2.50 1.04 10 57.2 45 11.39 2.34 0.62 As a nineteen year old, Skaggs was selected as the top pitching prospect in the California League, striking out 125 batters in 100.2 IP, while maintaining an outstanding 3.7 K/BB ratio. He was promoted to AA Mobile in the Southern League midseason, and was even more impressive, bumping up the strikeouts and significantly reducing his walks. He was ranked as the #2 prospect in the Southern League despite just 10 starts, behind Matt Moore of the Rays and just ahead of teammate Paul Goldschmidt. Skaggs has a low 90s fastball that he can locate well, and an excellent curve ball that is probably his best pitch. There is still some question as to whether he has "ace" stuff, but he already profiles as a very good #2-3 starter. Skaggs should start 2012 in AAA Reno. 4. Matt Davidson, 3B (21) - Ranked #97 Overall by Baseball America Team AB R H HR RBI SB/CS BB K AVG OBP SLG Visalia (Hi A) 535 93 148 20 106 0/1 52 147 .277 .348 .465 A 2009 supplemental 1st round pick for the Diamondbacks, Davidson has moved slightly ahead of fellow draftee Bobby Borchering in the organization. Both were drafted as 3B, but it looks like Davidson is the one who will stick at the position. During the first few days of Spring Training, Davidson impressed the team with his improved defense at 3B. Offensively, as a 20 year old in the California League, Davidson slugged 20 HR and 38 doubles, finished 2nd in the league in doubles and 4th in RBI. The only negative is that he did strike out 147 times, or 24.3% of his plate appearances. Davidson was called up to AA Mobile for their playoffs, and hit a Home Run in their clinching win. Davidson will start 2012 in AA Mobile as the starting 3B.

JJ Rumors
What about a package of Tyler Skaggs AJ Pollock and Matt Davidson from Arizona from JJ Well Skaggs is awesome, he'd fit in well with Turner and Eovaldi and has the potential to be better than both of them. Davidson is sexy but not as sexy or MLB ready as Olt. Pollock looks really good, would give us a ton of potential and flexibility and good defense with Ruggiano out there. Two things the Rangers and Diamondbacks have in common is pretty damn deep farms with lots of good prospects. We'd easily be able to figure something out with one of them. But what if the D'Backs want to include Stephen Drew or Upton in a trade no matter what before they lose them for nothing? We'll see.

JJ Rumors
From Jayson Stark on Monday: After all that Josh Johnson talk, the Marlins were telling teams Monday they're just going to keep their ace unless something unforeseen happens. "no doubt that they intend to trade Josh Johnson" "they're just going to keep their ace" This is just the worst time of year. The absolute worst. With scouts watching, Johnson turned in a mediocre performance on Sunday against the Padres, but nobody out there doubts Josh Johnson's talent. Nothing about Sunday changed the evaluation. Johnson is a very skilled pitcher with health concerns. Here's what I would assume has been the case all along: the Marlins have been open to the idea of trading Josh Johnson, given a big return. No big return has been offered, so the Marlins don't see the sense in trading Johnson for less than they'd like. They were probably never "intending" to trade Johnson, and they're probably not now committed to "keeping" Johnson. They're just open to ideas, with expectations. If those expectations aren't met, then Johnson won't be moved, because, obviously. People like to say that, no matter what's going on at present, a lot can change between now and the deadline. Exactly. You know what matters? Trades. You know what pretty much doesn't matter at all? Trade rumors.

JJ Rumors
I know Arizona is trying to pull a blockbuster or something crazy, but I don't know about converting a 1B to 3B. You can convert it the other way around, but you can't teach someone like that to suddenly play 3B... I don't know much about Arizona's farm system, I'd have to take a closer look. And these trades blow, it's all freakin' Cubs, Phillies, Dodgers, rinse repeat.
-
JJ Rumors
They absolutely know theyd be better with JJ, they're just being stubborn dicks and don't want to trade Olt, Perez, and Profar in any deal. We were said to want multiple but I think we're looking for at least Olt plus prospects and their best offer is Leonis Martin plus prospects.

Hanley, Choate to LA for Eovaldi, McGough
Hanley 0/4 tonight with a K :laughpurple it was bound to happen. At home or away? At home. Still batting .333 with a +1.000 OPS for the Dodgers though. So a game like this was coming. I don't want him to fail but I heard so much sh*t from other fans that we got destroyed in the trade that I want him to fail just to shut them all up... Is that petty? :shrugs

I'm outta here, I hope I wake up to a Marlins trade. If not, at least some fun interesting ones. Gonna go sleep with my JJ bobblehead next to me.
