  1. Trades in 10 team leagues are pretty difficult, everyones team is stacked or at the very least doesn't have any real holes.
  2. If Buck can get his OPS to .700 and be a +1.0 WAR defensively, like he has been this year, he'll have value. The problem is, ever since we signed him after his contract year with the Jays, he's been awful. His batting line in 2011 - .227/.316/.367 for a .683 OPS. His batting line this year - .201/.307/.344 for a .651 OPS. Really if you take away his good year with the Jays in 2010 where he had a .802 OPS, he's a career .237/.304/.405 for a .709 OPS... So I mean, it's really our fault for giving a player that had 1 1/2 good seasons (he had half a good season with KC before TOR) that type of a contract and 5 1/2 years of mediocrity. And in our new ballpark so far, he's batting .196/.313/.288 for a .601 OPS. So... I really don't see him rebounding all that much. He's just never really been that good of a hitter. We just signed him at the highest possible point of his value. It was a terrible signing.
  3. I don't know. It all depends on whether they sign him to a new contract or not. If so then yes, yes he will. But to be fair if they would have signed a lot of their guys instead of trading them then it would be a lot harder for Stanton to go and claim that title. I think it's going to come down to if he wants to sign here. You keep saying this and either you are clueless or mean that he won't be here his entire career. I'm going to assume you're clueless. He is going to sign with the marlins unless the marlins don't want him(harhar) or trade him(hehe). He is 22 years old and is making 480k this season. That's peanuts. The earliest he will be arbitration eligible is 2014. He is then a free agent in 2017. He's had knee issues. He is years away from "big" arbitration money and we all know the marlins are willing to go year to year in arbitration. If at any point between today and when he signs a free agent contract he becomes severely injured, he can kiss his future goodbye. No sane person is willing to risk their lively hood and tens of millions of dollars because they don't like the team. That's f***ing stupid. So, no, it doesn't come down to if he wants to sign here. It comes down to what the marlins plans are and when he signs. We will see. He keeps this pace up and he is going to be getting hefty raises each time in arbitration. Just think back to other players we had that were basically in the same boat. We have more $$$ to spend right now, but he is still just one player and I think we have already seen the peak for our payroll. If he reaches FA and still with us, I doubt very much he stays here. You stay in your dream world and throw your insults. i prefer reality. You're missing the point and we are agreeing on something. If he reaches free agency I don't think he will sign here either. The marlins will easily be outbid. The point is that the marlins would have to be unbelievably stupid to let that happen and Stanton isn't going to reject big money long term offers because he doesn't want to play here. All that has to happen is for the marlins to offer him a long term deal similar to other young players under club control of his caliber and he will accept it. What the issue with payroll? He will probably get like 7yr/83 mil deal. The marlins can afford that. This will definitely happen. Once we get things figured out and in order, meaning Nolasco and Buck coming off the books and trading Bell, we'll be fine and hopefully make smart moves, starting by signing Stanton long-term.
  4. Uhhh, how can you guys forget about 'The Natural'? If Stanton stays for 5-7 more years after this year, and keeps up any semblance of this production, the answer is yes. But between the Marlins being the Marlins and the probability he stays healthy which all athletes have to deal with, it's going to be tough.
  5. I agree, that is what's going to happen, but ideally I'd much rather somehow unload Buck on someone for any prospect for organizational depth and then spin that money towards Napoli, who could spell both Brantly at catcher and LoMo at 1st. Or sign Humberto Quintero a much cheaper and better defensive option than Buck, and that way you give Brantly a game off here and there, and put the 5-6M we saved towards 3B or OF or SP. I much rather have Brantly backed up by Quintero and Torii Hunter as our 3rd OF than Brantly/Buck splitting duties and Peterson or Gorkys Hernandez out there is my point. Although I like Peterson just fine as a 4th OF.
  6. I'm looking for a stud WR1! Julio Jones or Megatron or Legedu Naanee type guys.
  7. LoMo is playing 1B for us next year and there's no way we bring Lee back as anything more than a bench bat. Case closed. We should be talking about Matt Dominguez or our 3B options or Zach Cox in here, not beating a dead caballo. See what I did there?
  8. Well, there's no way Brantly catches or plays defense better than Buck, as of right now. But Brantly is cheaper, more promising, and already out hitting Buck. We can't trade him fast enough in my opinion, but good luck doing so. And I also agree with Zephyr, Brantly has caught Nolasco beautifully. Buck isn't bad defensively, I'd say he's the better defensive catcher at this point, but I'm saying he's slightly above average at best and he's no Molina to have hang around unless he's hitting. So far this season, Buck is 1.0 Defensive Wins Above Replacement, meanwhile Brantly is -0.1. Neither are all that great at throwing guys out. But the sample size is very small on Brantly. However, so far Buck as catcher has an ERA of 3.95 and Brantly has an ERA of .3.63. Oh yea Brett Hayes is 5.13 lolz. Also, here's a great article about framing pitches and catching pitchers, and Buck is a negative value. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=15093
  9. LoMo had surgery btw. It was 'successful'. Prayer circle time. :pray "Logan Morrison underwent successful right knee surgery on Wednesday. Morrison underwent surgery on the same knee last offseason and never felt quite right during the 2012 campaign. It showed in his numbers, as he finished the season batting just .230 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI in 93 games. The Marlins are expected to use him at first base going forward." http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/09/07/2988668/miami-marlins-logan-morrison-jc.html

f*** that noise about platooning LoMo in LF with Ruggiano/Peterson whoever while splitting time at 1B with Lee. You put the lotion in the basket LoMo at first and that's it. You have Lee to be a mentor, veteran guy, pinch hitter, give LoMo a game off in double headers or every 4-5 games. Honestly, I'd rather see Lee's fat titties bouncing in LF while he runs down a flyball a handfull of games than risking LoMo out there. Not to mention we have stud ass Stanton, solid Ruggz, and then guys like Gorkys (lolz), Peterson, Cousins, Coghlan, Dobbs and then FA and the offseason, so I don't want LoMo in the OF.
  11. JJ, Buehrle, Turner, FA signing, Eovaldi or LeBlanc (the other going to the pen as long relief or 2 inning setup type guy) Preferably I'd like to see LeBlanc in the pen, he was extremely valuable to us there, I don't think Ozzie used him enough in the right spots while guys like Dunn, Webb, Bell were struggling, surprise surprise. This scenario also has us dumping Nolasco to clear salary to sign someone else on the cheap with more upside but also more risk. And if it blows up in our face, get Hand or Sanabia or LeBlanc in there. What about Zambrano? Does anyone want him back on the cheap? See how he does in spring training and go from there? He had a pretty good start of the season.
  12. Kinda like how the O's went back to their cartoon bird mascot, which I love. Some retro action but keeping it current.
  13. You keep him, bring up an extension and get an idea of what they (he and agent) are looking for. If it's not something we like, you trade him, if it seems reasonable, you hold on to him unless you get a great offer and we're not competing by the 2013 deadline.
  14. And I just wanted to thank y'all for allowing PPR RB gold in Sproles to fall to me in the 4th round.
  15. Yea looks fine. Gracias.
  16. He'll be at worst a platoon guy and 4th OF, but I doubt we go into the season thinking "ok, LF or CF is figured out because we have Ruggiano". You can do that with SS and RF for us but that's about it. That being said, he should get 400 AB's next season, giving us solid defense and a .825 OPS. Which I very much like, not to mention he's cheap. I kind of want to vote for all options. It WAS a fluke year, but doesn't mean he'll regress to a .650 OPS. And he'll be more than a platoon guy but not an everyday locked up starter in any one position. It also depends on who we sign in the offseason I guess.
  17. Yea, please do. I came in here because of that. Just put everyone in the same division or make it a league. No need for NFC or AFC or divisions or what have you. And I love trades also, but my team is amazing thanks to half of you missing the draft and the fact that it's a ten team league. Can't wait to see who I get to destroy week 1 when it gets fixed.
  18. I left after the 8th, that was an incredibly disappointing inning. Also, my Stanton bobblehead's head isn't facing the right direction. He's looking more towards his bat than his name... I'm upset.
  19. Suck for Luck was understandable. Unless Tannehill puts up a Ryan Leaf season, QB is going to be the last thing on the Dolphins' mind in the next draft. If the Dolphins finish in last, I doubt they'd pass on Barkley. But yeah, as of right now Ryan Tannehill is the man for the job, without a doubt. Also, the Vontae Davis trade was excellent in my opinion. His job was taken from him last season. Just got something for nothing, if you ask me. I was pretty upset about it. He was excellent in man coverage, but it's true he rarely paid attention to the ball and when he did he'd never catch it. And then in his last preseason game he intercepted a ball and ran it back, only problem is he made an absurd defensive interference on that same play. So anyway, Philbin and Coyle and the new coaches want certain players. As much as I'm upset as a fan, they don't really care, they want what they want. And they're loading up on draft picks to make it happen. 5 draft picks in the 1st three rounds next year. And with our WRs and rookie QB, I'm betting we go 5-11 and get good drafting position.
  20. He shouldn't have played lf for as long as he did. This team mishandles rookies. Shouldn't have signed Carlos lee. Wtf was he going to do? If they bring him back I'm going to flip my sh*t. I'd be fine if they brought him back as a bench guy / part time hitting coach. Dude knows what he's doing when he has that runner in scoring position. Or, if anything, to give Morrison more time to recover, have him give Morrison a day off every 3 or 4 games at first base. I'd be completely fine with that. Absolutely. It's all about price to me. I'd be fine bringing Carlos Lee back, giving him a few spot starts, being a good bench guy and contributor, pinch hitter, can also play 1B or DH during those interleague games, etc. But if he blocks LoMo or prevents someone else from coming up or wants too much, just move on. Let the caballo graze in someone elses pasture.
  21. Marcus Stroman latest guy busted.
  22. September 5th. Officially shut down. :verysad Let's hope it works out and he sticks at 1B.
  23. Soooo... we're at 10, 12 would be awesome. To be exact we're at 10 with LetsGoFish waiting to join so technically at 11? Someone else join dammit.
  24. Well the storm was just lots of rain and wind and not much else, no real damage. I feel bad for New Orleans, seems like it's comin' right at 'em. Although, if it loses power quickly and just turns into a tropical storm soon after landfall and goes a considerable distance north, I think it could do more good than bad in the form of rainfall considering the record breaking droughts the area has been experiencing. That storm was reaching 250-300 miles wide at times, could deliver alot of needed rainfall.
  25. Apparently all our prospects still play for the Florida Marlins. It's weird, they got all the prospects wrong by putting FLA as the organization. But they got the coach right towards the bottom by putting MIA.
