LoMo scheduled for knee surgery

Featured Replies

September 5th. Officially shut down. :verysad

Let's hope it works out and he sticks at 1B.

Welp. Try again next year.

I think what squall means is that a decision to have LoMo undergo surgery should have been made weeks ago.

Being a former college athlete with several surgeries on various parts of the body, I know for a fact that there are times when doctors wouldnt even look at an injury until swelling and inflammation subsided. I would bet that this would case in this instance. Front offices may make dumb decisions but I tend to believe that team physicans make the best decision they can in regards to players and teams.

Last year at the trade deadline I wanted to move Gaby. Not because I thought he was going to turn into a turd burger but because Lomo would not stay healthy in left. I hope he gets the knee fixed, that the rehab goes great and that he sticks at 1B. I also hope we take a patience-based approach to hitting for these lefties - kind of like the supposed Nick Johnson effect from late 2009.

We have Yellich, Cox, Morrison, Coghlan, and Brantley as young LH bats.

He shouldn't have played lf for as long as he did. This team mishandles rookies. Shouldn't have signed Carlos lee. Wtf was he going to do? If they bring him back I'm going to flip my sh*t.

I'd be fine if they brought him back as a bench guy / part time hitting coach. Dude knows what he's doing when he has that runner in scoring position. Or, if anything, to give Morrison more time to recover, have him give Morrison a day off every 3 or 4 games at first base. I'd be completely fine with that.

Absolutely. It's all about price to me. I'd be fine bringing Carlos Lee back, giving him a few spot starts, being a good bench guy and contributor, pinch hitter, can also play 1B or DH during those interleague games, etc. But if he blocks LoMo or prevents someone else from coming up or wants too much, just move on. Let the caballo graze in someone elses pasture.

LoMo had surgery btw. It was 'successful'.

Prayer circle time. :pray

"Logan Morrison underwent successful right knee surgery on Wednesday.

Morrison underwent surgery on the same knee last offseason and never felt quite right during the 2012 campaign. It showed in his numbers, as he finished the season batting just .230 with 11 home runs and 36 RBI in 93 games. The Marlins are expected to use him at first base going forward."

Ozzie has basically said show up for ST and be ready to play, or you ain't on my team. No more excuses.

Sounds reasonable.

A WBC injury would obviously be a good way to get sideways with Ozzie, so I'll guess very few bother with it.

Is there still hope and a place on our 40 man for Coghlan ? I thought that shipped may have already passed.
