  1. There was a reason the Nationals let him go. They started accumulating good arms and didn't want them ruined :wee Just kidding with that but who knows, they did let him go and then their pitching improved. They did acquire real talent though.....that probably helped.
  2. And Freddi gets the last laugh I guess.
  3. Maybe Ozzie is trying to lose and get fired. I really can't say no to that, it's possible
  4. Know why you never jump ship? Exciting moments like tonight. Donovan Solano with two dingers. It was colossal......It was the 1st time I've smiled this evening.
  5. SOLANO !!!!! With the 2 out 2 run dinger
  6. He's been doing great, but damn that Heywood. But as usual no run support......seems like this year will never end.
  7. Same here, had a 20 game plan, and no plans to renew at this point unless some drastic changes are happening, which apparently they won't be happening.
  8. I really wish I could say a lot more than I can, but suffice to say I respect your wishes to change teams, and understand it, but me personally I can't do it. I've been through too much with the Marlins for 20 years to change teams. I have noticed that Loria's biggest supporter hasn't been around too much lately. Interesting.
  9. Wow Ozzie telling Loria to look in a f***ing mirror probably brought down the axe on his career here if we are going off Loria's history. Where did he say that? "Guillen's recent string of comments has angered Loria to the point where Guillen may be on a short lease, according to The Palm Beach Post's Joe Capozzi. "If Jeffrey doesn't think I'm doing the job I should do ... it's not the first time he's fired a manager," Guillen said last Friday while the club was in New York. "Look yourself in the mirror and ask why so many (bleeping) managers come through here." http://www.jacksonsun.com/usatoday/article/70000996&usatref=sportsmod?odyssey=mod%7Cnewswell%7Ctext%7CSports%7Cp
  10. I dont understand how Ken Rosenthal say Ozzie lost the team when Heath bell was the only one really talking smack. Supposedly there are "anonymous" players and coaches saying it behind Ozzie's back, according to several of the local Miami radio stations. On one this morning it was said that started losing control as early as the "Fidel" controversy. Some others have said it was a lack of leadership during the June meltdown. But according to several "anonymous" sources he's not been in real control for most of the season. It's one reason we haven't seen Ozzie go off that much, it's because he doesn't care. It seems he thinks he made a poor decision to leave Chicago and regrets it now and has since early in the season. This is of course what was said on radio talk shows this morning. Who knows if its truth or just opinion.
  11. Wow Ozzie telling Loria to look in a f***ing mirror probably brought down the axe on his career here if we are going off Loria's history. But is Ozzie wrong ? Did any of you listen to the video ? Stark says a lot of truth, and it's time people realize, that its not all these managers & players that are the problem, it's the one that remains constant. If I am Brad Ausmus someone else is going to give me a chance. Mike Lowell with no experience - really ? But Loria has no one to blame but himself.
  12. I'm taking Loria's side on this. Freddi never won us a World Series, or even got us into the playoffs. Loria did. And Loria got us a brand new stadium. It's not his fault that players like Ramirez, Buck, Gabby, Nolasco, and Bell have underperformed, and have really sucked. Did they really underperform or was there unreasonable expectation & over estimation made of talent by Loria and his hand-picked front office ? Maybe they just aren't very good baseball people ? Results show they have failed time & again in the draft, or in free agency. They have hit on a couple of players but since Loria has owned the team only one player taken in the 1st two rounds of the draft has ever amounted to anything. That's pretty pathetic. Meanwhile some organizations have righted their ships since Loria bought the franchise, like Tampa. They were a perrinial loser until changes were made with a new ownership and VOILA, they are more in contention & well thought of as a franchise than Loria & his Marlins. They may not have won a WS but they have played in a WS, won the AL East twice, and made the playoffs 3 times and that is having to contend in a division with the sports two biggest money machines. And the Marlins ? We all have seen the mess this organization is in. If Ozzie really is let go, and I am a free agent, the Marlins had better way overpay me or I'm not going to sign with them, because the record shows that odds favor the Marlins will be losers rather than winners. Most players want to be paid, but they also want to win. If I am going to the Marlins and be miserable, you better pay me well.
  13. I think it's funny when people hate decisions made on a manager like it takes a genius to manage a baseball team. I'm pretty sure our record would probably be no different if we had Mike Lowell or Bo Porter. Honestly, who cares? Can we get some better players, please? Well ask Admin B about that.
  14. Scott Cousins is to blame for everything. After he ran over Buster Posey, the downward spiral into oblivion began. I will now do a Hiro and prevent this from happening. Nice "Heroes" reference. I liked that show......I may be the only person that watched every episode :sax
  15. I get the feeling that Loria puts way too much stock into how much a manger has to do with a teams success. This is why he needs to have as little as possible with baseball decisions on the field. Until he learns he needs to step back and let professional baseball people make the decisions the Marlins will be fighting for last place.
  16. According to a blog on the Herald, two sources are saying that Beinfest job may be safe for Another year while Ozzie might be more on a hotseat. Makes no f***ing sense at all and Bo Porters name keeps getting thrown around. Bringing in Bo Porter is like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. The iceberg is Admin Beinfest and he's still going to be there to do damage.
  17. And Freddi is in the playoffs and where is Loria's team headed for the 2nd straight year ? The Cellar. Colossal failure ? He gave you at least one winning record, maybe 2. Since then, its been crap. I didn't like Freddi but at least the team was closer to winning than since he's left us. But we all know that when Cox retired Gonzalez would have left here no matter what, so I'm surprised this came up. Who asked Freddi and what tipped him off to make these remarks ?
  18. I think most reasonable people are tired of watching the manager carousel being used to deflect blame from the poor decisions made by the front office. Could not agree more. Although I'm honestly not a fan of Ozzie, but the FO needs to get cleaned out before the coaching staff. I'm getting the feeling that until ownership changes, this is the way it will be. Hopefully Loria tires of it after a few more seasons and decides to sell.
  19. Guys...Bo Porter is also part of the rumor mill of being next manager... lol Question: Do managers contracts work like players in that if Ozzie gets fired, do the fish still have to pay out his contract? Yep. But I doubt he gets the axe. Friday's PBP had a better article on this. It said Ozzie has been "frustrated" with having to deal with so many top execs when discussing personnel things. Loria, Samson, Beinfest, Hill, and Jennings. He will be under pressure next season, but it would fit my theory that we will see a bigger "Ozzie stamp" on the team next year. Beinfest and Hill wouldn't surprise me tho. And I believe they are signed through 2015 as well. I have no idea what they get paid, but I would bet it's a hefty chunk of change. It dosen't show up on payroll, but it does show up on the bottom line. I don't think Jennings is a wise choice, but.... Frisaro also said expect payroll to be in the $80 mil range. I have been saying for a couple months payroll would go down next season, but I don't think it will be that low. I wouldn't be totally surprised, I just don't think it will. The FO predicted attendance at 30K this year. They were off and now because of the trades and poor play it is still falling. Next year will be even worse, and they have to see that now. Same old Marlins :happydance
  20. Well many people wanted his son set free a long time ago......
  21. I agree, that is what's going to happen, but ideally I'd much rather somehow unload Buck on someone for any prospect for organizational depth and then spin that money towards Napoli, who could spell both Brantly at catcher and LoMo at 1st. Or sign Humberto Quintero a much cheaper and better defensive option than Buck, and that way you give Brantly a game off here and there, and put the 5-6M we saved towards 3B or OF or SP. I much rather have Brantly backed up by Quintero and Torii Hunter as our 3rd OF than Brantly/Buck splitting duties and Peterson or Gorkys Hernandez out there is my point. Although I like Peterson just fine as a 4th OF. Whoever takes Buck in a trade probably won't take on his contract. The Marlins will most likely be paying that whether Buck is here or not.
  22. He would be stupid to sign a 7/83 contract. He'll probably get around $10M his first arbitration year in 2014. By signing 7/83 he would be leaving way too much money on the table. I would think the numbers need to start at 7/100. If I were him I wouldn't sign anything less than a $ 100 million contract. He's going to get at least $ 10 million (probably more) in just his 1st year of arbitration. If you insult him with low numbers, he'll just ride it out.
  23. I'd rather have Mike Trout. and I'd like to have Mike's trout
  24. Last year at the trade deadline I wanted to move Gaby. Not because I thought he was going to turn into a turd burger but because Lomo would not stay healthy in left. I hope he gets the knee fixed, that the rehab goes great and that he sticks at 1B. I also hope we take a patience-based approach to hitting for these lefties - kind of like the supposed Nick Johnson effect from late 2009. We have Yellich, Cox, Morrison, Coghlan, and Brantley as young LH bats. Is there still hope and a place on our 40 man for Coghlan ? I thought that shipped may have already passed.
  25. Fishgirl replied to EricWiener's topic in Miami Marlins
1000? I didn't say 1000, I said 900 to 1000. And so he is. 964. Will he collapse? Maybe, but I doubt it. If he does, no problem, laugh away, I'll have been wrong. Speaking of collapses, how about Uggla, now hitting 208 and on the bench for 12 million/year? Perhaps we should bring that up to those who think Beinfest should be fired. Well he did offer him $48 million didn't he ?
