March 12, 200422 yr Too Many Idiots On The Road Part II: The Florida Connection Florida might have the worse driving I have ever seen, at least in the areas from Sarasota to Dunedin. I have never seen people willingly drive 55 MPH when the speed limit is 70 MPH, 80 MPH when the speed limit is 55 MPH, stop at green lights, not use turning signals, and pretty much drive like crap. I know Flordia is full of old people and they cannot drive to save their lives...hell, I mean that literally. They drive like there is no tomorrow...no exaggeration! They must figure they have been kicking around so long, if they die by getting back-ended and then flipping over four times while their car is exploding, so be it. They want to go down in a blaze of hellfire and bring down as much with them as possible. However, EVERYONE down here drives like old people, even the middle aged to the young! Did they all get Cathrine Zeta Jones sydrome? You see, Cathrine Zeta Jones married Michael Douglas and then instantly gained 20 years of age. The huge senior demographic in Florida must of rotted the part of the brains associated with driving for everyone. The driving is so bad, I have become familiar with cars not moving with there being a green light. What kind of sick, twisted, and backward society associates green lights with stopping? That's like associating progress with retrogression or at the very least progress with a sudden halt. For some reason, the average Floridian driver is extremely indecisive concerning two decisions: whether or not to change lanes and whether or not to stay at the same speed. You see, the average Floridian driver will slow down, wobble left and right so you have no idea what lane they plan on going into, and then they start veering to one direction at a snail's pace, so slow that it takes a good ten seconds for their rear end to go into the other lane. However, this is not always the case, because five seconds into their veering, some decide to change their mind and then slow go back into the same lane or repeat the entire process into the next lane. Remember, not once is a turning signal ever used. Lastly, the average Floridian driver never stays at the same speed. They either go between the speeds of 50 MPH to 65 MPH randomly or they will pass you up at 80 MPH and then go into a random 50 MPH to 65 MPH pace. Lastly, let me tell you a tale about classy Clearwater and the US-19 route. How is it that when you see a combination of strip clubs, fried chicken, bail bonds, and liquor stores, you KNOW you're in a bad area? I swear, you would think all these people do is get drunk and go to strip joints, rob liquor stores, and use that money to eat fried chicken. Sure, it seems like a pretty good life, but the entire US-19 route must be committed to this way of life. Just so the read knows, the areas surrounding this route are neither black, latin, or white...this has nothing to do with ethnicity. It just has ALL to do with fried chicken, liquor, strip joints, and bail bonds. It is almost like a spread out version of Phoenix, Rochester, or the Bronx. Flordia...all class. http://www.xanga.com/craigramblings
March 12, 200422 yr OMG. Crappy drivers is one thing that totally gets to me. Ask MaXx how many times he has seen me b***h. He pokes fun at me by calling me "road rage". LOL It's not only the slow drivers that get to me, it's also people who have to drive down the highway like if it's the freaking Indy 500. I go no more than 65 on a 55 speed limit and still I see people flash right by me. They expect me to speed up just for them, so they flash their high beams at me. Sorry dude, but I don't like going too far over. I have a habit of respecting traffic laws, esp. on the highway, where a cop can show up very unexpectedly. Other things I hate... ? People driving with their high beams on behind you. They see that their light is bugging the hell out of you yet they don't give a damn. ? People who have to drive too damn close behind me. ? If I am at a red light, and the person behind me is too close for comfort, I move up a little bit. But do they stay where they were? Nooo... They have to move up too, still getting too close for comfort. ? People driving while using their cell phone. Freaking concentrate on the road! Geez! ? People who cut you off so quick causing you to break hard. Of course, if you hit them, it's your fault. ? TRAFFIC!! People cause a huge hold up over nothing!!

March 12, 200422 yr Everybody acts like they're in the movie "Fast and the Furious". Idiots causes wrecks because of their ignorance. There is not consideration for the other person. I'll give people breaks, thinking the person will give someone else a break. But nooo, people are too selfish and think about themselves, that's why there are soooo many accidents out there. Everyone is always in a damn hurry, like if you're gonna get to your destination any quicker. I laugh at the idiots who get up your ass and veer in and out of lanes; then moments later you are at the red light right with them. So they did all that nonsense for nothing. I could go on and on and on.
March 12, 200422 yr he mentioned Clearwater and Sarasota...which is not South Florida...but Central Florida. CF is where I am from, and driving is bad. I still get over it.
March 12, 200422 yr Well it's a little of everybody that drives like that down here. I'll chill until someone runs into me. :confused
March 12, 200422 yr I've up that way in Central Florida many of times and I don't see it as bad as South Florida. Not nearly as bad, sorry to say. It is extreme down here.
March 12, 200422 yr once again...that sucks....but there are worse things in life. Nothin to take a midol for.
March 12, 200422 yr if the damn yankees would keep their old people up in NY, then we would have a lot less idiots on the road. P.S. Fast and the Furious rice burners are dumb and a waste of money. Our 76 corvette would smoke those japanese pieces of sh*t.
March 12, 200422 yr P.S. Fast and the Furious rice burners are dumb and a waste of money. Our 76 corvette would smoke those japanese pieces of sh*t. Thank you. I agree with you there. That is sooo true.
March 12, 200422 yr One time I was leaving Westland Mall and I had the green light. (This is 49th street in Hialeah, guys.) I was like the 3rd person in line to cross 49th. Well, some a**hole took the red light, ran into me, and just drove off like if nothing happened. Thankfully, nothing happened to me. And just yesterday, my Mom was going to the doctor. She had the green light and another a**hole who had the red light tried making a left and almost hit my Mom by an inch.

March 12, 200422 yr Thank god you guys are ok. Hit and runs are big down here. And I know the area you are talking about. 49th street in Hialeah is big for accidents. I was born and raised in Hialeah and lived there for 18 years. I hear ya girl. Okeechobe Road is pretty bad also.
March 12, 200422 yr Yea, we're fine. Okeechobee can get crazy too. By the way, I have been living in Hialeah all my life.
March 12, 200422 yr I lived in New York City for 6 years, therefore I am trained in reckless-driver-avoidance. However, nothing prepared me for the madness in Miami. You are minding your business, driving at a sensible speed, stopping at red lights and stop signs... Then the light goes green, you go and then another a**hole eats his red light, hits you, wrecks your car and sends you to the hospital with multiple injuries... WTF! :pullhair
March 12, 200422 yr Central Florida drivers are horrible but what you see in South Florida is atrocious. I've never seen so many idiots driving. Seems like they're out there to cause problems. Btw... I agree with you Sori... if you plan on moving to Florida, learn to drive Floridian style. Floridian Style driving includes:Drive slower in the left lane. Make left or right turns from the Middle lane. Green means STOP, Red means GO, Yellow means Speed Up. Medians are EXTRA lanes. When Merging to another lane... slow down so the driver on the other lane has to slow down aswell. When making a left turn at a traffic light wait till the Yellow Arrow light comes on to make your turn. Tailgating is cool! Drive slow on High Speed Limits, Drive Faster on Slow Speed Limits. Don't use Turn Signals When mergering onto an expressway, make sure to swerve to left lane.
March 12, 200422 yr Everywhere I've ever lived, everybody says the worst drivers are there. You know what? Crappy drivers are everywhere. The highest vehicular homicide and DUI rate is right here in New Mexico. It sucks here in NM, it sucks in FLA, it sucks in Michigan, and it even sucks in Alaska. These 4 states I'm sure of. I'll bet my ass crappy drivers reside in the other 46 states I haven't lived in.
March 12, 200422 yr i didnt read the article but i agree fully. the other day im right next to some fool on the palmetto and he starts to switch lanes. i honk and the fool hesitates but then keeps going so i had to continue honking and speed up to pass the idiot. the other day im also on the palmetto im already in the lane getting ready to get off and this car was parked off with the blinkers on and then waits till im right behind to get back on the road. b***h turns left when im already passing the light and on and on and on. and dont get me started on cell phones
March 12, 200422 yr Author Jburque, Alaska wasn't all that bad. They just shoot the street signs. Drive slower in the left lane. Don't use Turn Signals When mergering onto an expressway, make sure to swerve to left lane This is exactly it.
