May 22, 200323 yr The money you said would be freed up is not accurate at all. If Pudge is not on the team next year, he still makes $3 mil from us because of deferred money. Also, you havent taken into account pay increases that Encarnacion, Lowell, Gonzalez, Looper, Penny, Beckett, etc would get for next year. Remember, they all have one year contracts. And I believe Pierre also gets an increase in his contract for next year, so if you add all those up, there is not as much money freed up as you think.

May 22, 200323 yr Author I already took the Pudge thing in account, but I added an extra Mill. I thouht he made 2 next year. OK, after all those increases, We will have around, lets say $8-9 Million, and even if that is not enough just for next year, we will find a little more "special money" to get Vlad...guarenteed... Your original amount was $14.9 million freed up and taking into account all of the pay increases you still say we have $9 million? Thats simply not accurate and extremely wishful thinking. I didnt even list all of the players that will get increases. Redman alone got a pay increase of about $2 million for this year. All of the players to get increases are Lowell, Juan E, Gonzalez, Pierre, Beckett, Penny, Redman, Pavano, Looper, Almanza, Spooney, Fox, Redmond, Castro. Getting rid of Pudge, Lee, Nunez, TH, and Castillo gives us about $4-5 mil after all those pay increases plus however much Loria agrees to raise the payroll for next year, which might be little or nothing.
