but they might not let go castillo they might trade him...Vlad is 50/50 and Pudge is a big chance he will stay.Lowll might go if we no where near conteders by July or August.

if Pudge stays, I will be severely disappointed in the front office....

RAMON CASTRO CAN HIT DAMMIT...let him play Pudge is the best catcher!!! DAMIT GIVE HIMA CHANCE! Im sure he will rebound in the 2nd half.... that's what HOFers do

but

I want Castro as my catcher next year.....

hmmm Pudge at $10mil or Ramon at $750,000 :mischief2

Castillo IS going in July, Lee IS going in October/November (before we have to offer arbitration) Pudge is 50/50, Lowell is 100% staying I gaurentee you, and Vlad is 50/50 ONLY if Pudge leaves...

if pudges leaves ? no... even if pudge stays they will try and get vlad.

RAMON CASTRO CAN HIT DAMMIT...let him play I agree Ramon Castro needs to play and Pudge has to be left off... If Pudge is resigned I will bash Beinfest for being an idiot..

You are right on that. Ramon is great and needs his chance to shine. If Pudge leaves I think we will get Vlad, but not sure. 50/50 chance...

If I were to choose between Pudge and Vlad G.. I'd go with Vlad G 100%

ok no i wouldnt ;)

I do too... But the question is, will he cost just too much? I know Loria will make that extra EXTRA push for him, but its 50/50... If we can't get Vlad, I will settle for Pudge... IF we can't get him...

anyone would take vlad over pudge.. but maybe pudge would take less $$$ to play in his home town.

Ok up to this point you sound pretty ignorant. Pudge would take a small paycut to play here, but so would Vlad. Vlad would probably be willing to take a bigger pay cut because of the amount he will make even WITH the paycut...

my bottom line: I dont want to see Pudge in teal next year......

Ramon for 2004 catcher

ok lets say we sign Vlad for about 4 years / 18 mill. ... and pudge might take 2 years / 3 mill or so ? we can afford that.

why would Pudge sign 2 year/$3mil? he wants his payday

and Vlad will make $10mil a year atleast.....wherever he goes...guaranteed

OK you know what, just stop talking. lol. Pudge is going to cost us at least $10 Mill for 2 years IF he has a bad year, and Vlad for 4 years is going to cost us $40+ Million!

My dream line up and affordable..............

1b Gonzalez (Adrian)

LF Encarnancion

The Guerrero talk always makes me laugh. You guys have some sense of humor! And forget Pudge. He's not part of the long term solution here. And forget Vlad, there is no way these guys can afford him.

What would be the point in signing Pudge to another one-year contract?

1. He's getting around that age where catchers start to slow down. Even IF he turns it around this season and has some respectable stats, Pudge still isn't going to put up the numbers he did 5 or 6 years ago anymore, certainly not with this group.

2. He's too expensive for what he gives you. If he hits .300 with 80 RBIs and 20 homers, that's Kevin Millar type stats and that only should cost you around 4 million. And don't talk to me about his defense, he does have a great arm but it's not worth 10 million.

3. Ramon Castro would be wasting away on the bench for yet ANOTHER year. Fantasy players scream about this guy being held hostage by the Marlins front office. He should be in his prime now, at 27 years old. If they trade him they get no value for him since he hasn't played enough. But from what we've seen, all the guy has done is hit. I'd rather take a Castro-Redmond combo at 20% of the cost.

4. Why pay him money if re-signing him means we have to give up all the Lowell/Castillo/Lee's? If we're going with the youth movement & waiting for Gonzalez/Stokes and Cabrera to mature, then why waste the money on Pudge? Better to go with Castro and use the money to keep Lowell or Castillo.

So here's my lineup:

1. Pierre - CF

2. Alex Gonzalez - SS

3. Adrian Gonzalez - 1B

4. Mike Lowell - 3B

5. Juan Encarnacion - RF

6. Miguel Cabrera - LF

7. Ramon Castro - C

8. Kevin Hooper - 2B (if they can't afford to hang on to Castillo)

9. Beckett/Penny/Redman/Pavano/Willis

Use the leftover $$ to build a strong bullpen and bench. The offense might still be weak until the kids mature, but the pitching staff is still there & would be an exciting bunch of kids to watch.

I think Vlad could be had if you take a look at my "dream line up" and if Management really want to bring back excitement back after another dissapointing season.

Just say no to Pudge.......

Vlad is going to sign for less than he plays for in Montreal...

What a joke. Your posts get more and more myopic as you go.

Pudge was going to goto Japan before signing with the Marlins. There is ZERO market for his services at catcher at the price he wants.

If Pudge were to lower his demands to market value, teams would line up for him. However, as it is...we are overpaying for him...

I tried to tell some of you that when he first signed.

Vlad is a pipe dream....you can dream, but dont bet the farm on him becoming a Marlin.

Well from my calculations the only people who will making any significant money next season will be:

SS Gonzalez 3 mil?

RF Encarnancion 4 mil-5mil

Well more money will be spent to resign the pitcher but the Marlins should be around 20mil-30 mil payroll range next season and they still have room to sign him if they really want to.You know what signing Vlad could do for this franchise?

You know what signing Vlad could do for this franchise?

Didn't we say that with Pudge  No maybe you said that but I never said anything about signing of Pudge other than it was surprising move and gave props to Management.Vlad is real star caliber player that is hitting his prime and signing Vlad can really send a message to people in S.Florida.

Castillo and Lee are all but gone. I think this is smart because Lee is overrated at JRS, could catch on somewhere else and have more success. But with the Marlins, it ains happening. Castillo I think is going to be a liability because of his hip surgery. He may have re-occurring problems down the road when he is getting paid the big money. Not worth it, use that money on a power hitter instead.

Lowell could be re-signed if we deal away Castillo and Lee. That is probably the only way we could afford Lowell and Pudge.

That said, I dont think Pudge will re-sign unless he catches fire sometime soon. I expect he will. The other stipulation is that he will have to play 2B or LF for us. I dont know if that is a good idea, but that depends on whether or not he hits this year.

However, I think the Marlins can re-sign Lowell after this season and quite possibly make a move for Vlad. I know that sounds crazy, but signing Pudge seemed crazy too. I dont think we will see Vlad, Pudge and Lowell together though and with the way Pudge is hitting right now, I would rather see Castro in there.

I also think we will lose Redmond. We will also lose one of our super-subs Fox or Mordecai because they may be too rich for being bench players. There are cheaper alternatives.

The core of this team will be pitching. We will re-sign Beckett, Penny (I think we should trade him, but we should wait and see how he does this season - sigh), Pavano (may be too rich too if continues his success), and Burnett (yep, I think we will - we have his rights and he is on the shelf. I think we may sign a 2 year deal and take better care of him, at least I hope...). Redman needs to be back too, depending on how he comes back from his injury.

I think it is way too early to predict next year - there is still a lot left this season. I hope the Marlins dont deal Lowell just because of the PR backlash. They would be seen as throwing in the towel and that could kill the fans. We need to deal Castillo and Lee first anyway. Oh...damn... :confused :(
