April 25, 200422 yr I wonder who their "source" is that says Loria likes Vegas. I wouldn't bet against it being Fat Hank, considering his ESPN employment.
April 25, 200422 yr ESPN is having a slow news day so they have to make up something If they dont say the source, they made it up
April 25, 200422 yr see i've always liked Jason Stark ... but lately he has been very dissapointing. why can they just talk about Bonds again?

April 25, 200422 yr ESPN is having a slow news day so they have to make up something If they dont say the source, they made it up If this was someone else at ESPN I might agree but Jayson Stark has enough on his plate and is too respected to be making up stories. Now, did someone ask Loria what he thought of Vegas and did he say a team could make a bundle there? Sure, probably happened. Things get taken out of context all the time. As for Hank and Stark, it may be true but I find it hard to believe. Stark has some of the best sources in the game, his contacts are no doubt closer to the Marlins organization than FatHank's. You don't call the president of the team "Half-Man" on a daily basis and have a good working relationship with the organization. He's on the outside looking in and Stark's on the inside. Las Vegas as a community is one of the best self-promoters out there. I'm sure alot of people in LV would welcome the opportunity to try and land the Fish (no pun intended) and may have discussed it openly. Maybe FH got wind of that but it takes two to tango. If I were Loria I'd be thrilled about today's ESPN piece, it helps level the playing field in negotiations. It says all the things he can't say publicly. Stark clearly makes the Marlins organization out as the good guys who are being forced to look elsewhere because of the corruption and ineptitude of lawmakers.

I agree 100% - Loria must be estactic by this report. If Hank the Hippo or Berardino had any sort of relationship with the team they could have been the ones getting credit for the story. Hopefully this will help in securing the final $60 million.
April 25, 200422 yr I know this is just dump politics to light a fire underneath Miami politicians but it's still a bit concerning.
April 25, 200422 yr don't think Hank would have anything to do with that, he's always been saying the Marlins have no where else to go right?
April 26, 200422 yr There is no truth to this, and it's funny how this "breaking news" came out on ESPN.com the same day ESPN was nationally broadcasting a Marlins game. ESPN is just using every trick in the book to hype up tonights nationally broadcasted game as much as possible, that's it. On every Sunday during the regular season, you'll always see some really off the wall news story with no truth to it at all on ESPN.com and it is always directly related to one of the teams featured on that nights Sunday Night Baseball national telecast.
