BullDurham
Laugh all you want. Sean May (I've heard some Hole fans call him Fat Bastard) still sucks, and Rashad McCancer and RayRay are still NBA-type me-first players. We'll be OK, just not the top 15 some Pollyannas are saying on some sites. Oh, and Hole fans better watch JR Smith and Marvin Williams now, because the next time they see them play may be when they play in the NBA. miami15
Duke will still be a very good team but UNC is young and I'd pick them over Duke right now.

Smith might go but Marvin Williams has stated that he will definitely be attending UNC next year. I don't understand why scouts put much merit in performances in all-star games where all you do is run up and down the court and dunking with no defense. Yeah, I watched the McDonalds game and I wasn't impressed by JR Smith. He was hitting wide open 30 footers (big deal) and just dunking. That doesn't tell me much about how the kid can play. Heckeroo
Luol went for his country (sudan?), probably. He's a good guy, and his family doesn't really need the money
rferry
Two things I'll guarantee you: 1. UNC will not match the preseason predictions, top 25 ranking or ACC. 2. Duke will find some way to win (what top recruits' mother or father needs a job?) And wasn't Deng's father part of the imperial regime and fled when the country was taken over by peasantry? Mabdul Doobakus
Duke will be fine. I think this decision is a shame for Luol, though. I watched him play a lot last year, and I don't think he's ready. He needed one more year, and he could have come in and won the Rookie of the Year or whatever. But he just lacks polish right now, he lacks good court sense, he looks uncomfortable out there sometimes, and these problems are only going to be magnified in the NBA. Ultimately, I think this will slow his development, but we'll see. He's got a ton of raw talent, though, so he ought to be fine in the long run. nc marlin
1. UNC will not match the preseason predictions, top 25 ranking or ACC. Thats why they play the games and I think they will be much improved from last year thats for sure.
rferry
UNC hasn't matched the preseason hype since Dean Smith left. Roy Williams is no Dean Smith, he's not even a Coach K or Gary Williams yet. Anyway McCants will find some way ruin the squad like Stack and Rasheed did. MD, I disagree. Deng showcased his abilities against a lot of teams that had no answer for him this year (next year: Ibekwe UMD, beefed up Hodge NCSU, Villaneuva UCONN) with what looks to be the best Duke team of his four years of eligibility. There's no better time for Deng to come out when you look at his draft prospects. I also think he'll be better after 3 years learning in the NBA than staying in school. If by peasantry you mean the Islamofascists who are committing genocide in the Darfur region via their janjaweed goons and were the original Taliban before the Taliban was the Taliban? Oy, with all this crap, the next thing I need is a Towelie Ban.
SlapHands69
It looks as if Livingston wants to jump to the NBA but his parents are doing everything they can to keep him at Duke. Livingston said it himself that his decision is a 50-50 as of right now. Don't forget about Nelson at the PG spot also.

TarHeel324
the heels will be greatly improved this year, better than dook. yeah i just said that look at it this way: the tar heels lost by 2 and 5 points to dook last year dont you think that deng leaving and UNCs recruiting class coming in closes the gap? everyone talks about rashad being a cancer to the team. he isnt. he played better as the year went on. and if may can get in shape, who knows what'll happen one last thing: coach roy wont let UNC play defense like last year ever again
rferry
one last thing: coach roy wont let UNC play defense like last year ever again Speaking of another poor defensive team I think Wake Forest has the best shot at the ACC regular season title. They return everyone and Chris Paul is awesome.
Craig
I know I will take heat for saying this but... Luol Deng is the best player in this draft, and if the Bulls get the #1 pick and take anybody other than Deng, I will be highly disappointed. BullDurham
I know I will take heat for saying this but... Luol Deng is the best player in this draft, and if the Bulls get the #1 pick and take anybody other than Deng, I will be highly disappointed. The Bulls better learn to scrap the Triangle, then. Brand couldn't get anyone else to buy into his game (so he got sent off to Clipperland, where the same problem exists if your name isn't Maggette), and JWill got sucked into the Bermuda Triangle playing next to two selfish idiots in Curry and Chandler. Odds are, they're probably going to take Okafor if they get the first pick, as he's experienced and the high-school punks just absolutely suck. Not to mention the Bulls probably don't want to take on a similar case in Dwight Howard (maybe he's a headcase, but maybe he could be the next LeBron. Or maybe he'll wallow on the bench for a period that he's needed big-time, as, like I said, Chandler and Curry suck). Odds are that it'll be the Wizards (Clips will probably take Jameer Nelson, because they DESPERATELY need a PG to complement Maggette and Brand, who are truly diamonds surrounded by trash). If that's the case, Deng would be surrounded by equally terrible headcases in Arenas, Stackhouse, Hayes, and the biggest HS lottery-pick bust in history, Kwame Brown. The only way Deng would then be stabilized by Clipperland East would be if Laettner is retained in some way, either as a veteran bench player a la Steve Kerr or Danny Ferry or as a possible assistant coach (but if he's ever going to coach, odds are that he'll be an assistant under Coach K first). Not to mention Deng is going to get absolutely eaten up his first two years in the Association if he doesn't develop slashing skills to the post and lower his dribble. And this is coming from a Dukie who has seen him play!
