I think that this isn't hitting what Kruk meant to say, he's saying that if we don't have JP, we don't win the W.S. last year and we're not in first this year, not we wouldn't trade JP for Bonds.

 

Bonds is the most valuable player in baseball, more than ARod, Manny, Pedro, Guerrero, Sheffield, whoever. But with or without Bonds, the Giants still aren't a good team this year, without Pierre, we aren't a good team this year either, that's what he was trying to say...

Totally doesnt matter, Marlins won the World Series. All the home runs dont matter if the rest of your team is anemic and the Marlins proved that when they beat the Giants last year.

Bonds is so overrated! The only reason why people are paying to see him is becuz they wanna see him break some record. But since when does the amount people wnating to c u dtermine how good of a player u are? The only thing Barry does is hit homeruns, and sometimes he can't even do that becuz they walk him so damn much. And what does Barry score when they walk him... nothing. If u walk Juan PIerre, ur in trouble, cuz that boy will run. If u don't walk him, he'll just hit the ball and get on base anyway. So i think JP is more valuble than Bonds... It's ashame that very few here even understand the argument BEFORE they begin to debate about it. Especially because if you are open-minded about it, Kruk is right. You just to realize what his argument entails. Neither Harold Reynolds nor Peter Gammons understood Kruk's argument. I expect better of Reynolds, but Gammons has no brain so I dont expect much from him.

 

And I agree that we are being force fed Bonds' historic march in the home run column. Giants are on way too much. Other than Bonds, they are a fairly mediocre team - but they do play well. Kind of like the Braves, but further west.

I agree with John Kruk. Juanpy is more valuable to the Marlins than Barry Bonds is to the Giants. Look at the records from last season. How many games did the Marlins win when Juanpy didn't reach base? How many games did the Giants win when Bonds didn't reach base?

 

I think what you also have to look at, outside of the fact that Juanpy makes contact everytime, outside of the havoc on the basepaths and the great defense in center (Barry has very good defense as well, no knocks on his D) and all the other stuff previously mentioned by Kruk and others in this thread, the intangibles Juanpy brings to the club. He basically pumps in life to the team while in the batters box, on deck, in centerfield, or in the dugout. His open nature and general great moods rub off on the team, and when him and Dontrelle are in the same area (97.6% of the time) the emotion is just incredible.
