Craig
This guy has pretty much shown me NOTHING this year, he reminds me of the white sox former #5 crap starter Danny Wright, who was sent down to AAA Charlotte after his performance tonight. If Oliver pitches like garbage again tonight, I say give Justin Wayne a chance as #5 starter. End of post. As always, feel free to rip/praise my opinion. Craig
leave Wayne where he is. I disagree. Unlike Oliver, he's shown me a consistent ability to get people out. I think that's an important asset that a starter needs.
Ramp
he is finally comfortable, why take him out of that zone?
Craig
he is finally comfortable, why take him out of that zone? Because he has the ability to be a starter, unlike Darren Oliver.

Craig
proved nothing last year anyway Id rather see Hutchinson or someone else get the chance first Fine...... Just get Oliver out of this rotation, especially if he sucks tomorrow. I just think Wayne deserves a chance to start, he's been quite impressive this year. I'm not a fool, I know he struggled last year. But last year appears to be the distant past, and Wayne looks so confident, I think now is better than any time to ease him into the #5 spot into the rotation. Plus, that way, you can call up Hutchinson (yes and send down Oliver) and ease Hutchinson into the bullpen, give him appearances with chances to be successful, and give him confidence. Ramp
wow throw a starter right into the pen? Wayne has settled in his spot as setup guy... so it seems dont need to go stretching his arm again

Wayne has settled in his spot as setup guy... so it seems dont need to go stretching his arm again Throwing Hutchinson to the wolves as a starter right away is a BAD idea, trust me, I saw the Sox do it with Cotts last season when he wasn't ready. Wayne has starter stuff, and a starter's arm, and experience in the majors, so he's the prime candidate to take Oliver's spot. Don't get me started on "stretching pitchers arms". nc marlin
Oliver is better than any replacement inside the organization as far as I'm concerned.

Wayne's stuff isnt good enough to fool hitters 2nd and 3rd time thru the batting order let him set up Benitez, we need someone back there.... he is fitting in wonderfully I just think its a bad move to bring him back to starter now and I would like you to get started on stretching out their arms please

Look, as I see it, there are 3 options for the #5 spot (because contrary to what you think, Hutchinson is NOT ready to start).... 1. Oliver 2. Wayne (he deserves a chance to start) 3. Trade (haven't heard anything about something like that) You do need someone back there, and IMO it will be that kid from Cincinnati whose name is escaping me because it's late. I respectfully disagree on it being a bad move to make Wayne a starter. And the thought that your "stretching Wayne's arm" by letting him throw 6 or 7 innings every 5 days instead of having him pitch long relief is ludicrous. Hugg
Let's just call up Jeff Allison. JOKES! Wayne should stay where he is, especially with Fox out. I don't know what to do about Oliver though, besides cringe and hope every 5th day.

Craig
Would somebody explain to me why it's better to "cringe and hope with Oliver every 5th day" than give Wayne a chance? Wayne can't do worse than Oliver has done, and nobody give me the "arm stretching" bs, because that's not a legitimate reason.

nc marlin
Oliver's 2-1. And to be honest with you if he can keep a .500 record, I could care less what his ERA is. As long as he's gettin run support and we have a chance to win.
Ramp
why take Wayne out of a place he is comfortable with? he clearly looked out of place last year..... leave him where he is and let him be our 8th inning man

Well, Wayne hasn't been that impressive as a starter, albeit in limited appearances. Plus, our pen is razor thin right now, he's been the best guy down there not named Mando. I don't see what the point of making Wayne #5 is if we can't hold the lead anyway.
Craig
why take Wayne out of a place he is comfortable with? he clearly looked out of place last year..... leave him where he is and let him be our 8th inning man Why make Eric Gagne a closer?? He was comfortable as a starter. Why make Dennis Eckersley a closer?? He was comfortable as a starter. Why make Derek Lowe a starter?? He was comfortable in the bullpen. Wayne was out of place last year because he looked intimidated. He now has experience and knows how to get big league hitters out. He can't do worse than Oliver has in terms of ERA IMO and he has much more upside because he's a lot younger.
Hugg
Why make Eric Gagne a closer?? He was comfortable as a starter. Mediocre starter. Why make Dennis Eckersley a closer?? He was comfortable as a starter. He was aging and losing stamina. Why make Derek Lowe a starter?? He was comfortable in the bullpen. +1 to you. However, I don't care about the comfortable thing anyway. I just think Wayne is more valuable as our setup guy than as our #5 right now.
