Castillo, a .300 hitter, hit .261 in April and .188 in May Choi hit .295 in April and .118 in May Conine hit .309 in April and .233 in May Redmond hit .333 in April and .211 in May Castro hit .283 last year and is .155 this year Gonzalez hit .256 last year (after a great start) is hitting .198 Pierre and Lowell are having career years. Cabs is improving over last year....but these guys cannot carry the team by themselves. It is really tough to watch 6 of the 9 spots in the line-up struggle every night. It is putting tremendous pressure on our starters and relievers as they need to be perfect to get the W. We know these guys can do better......but when is it going to happen?

May 15, 200422 yr I think we should stop panicing and realize that we have not done that bad considering May is usually the weakest month for us in the first half of the season.
May 15, 200422 yr i would bench castillo for maybe like 4 games and let easliy start. My dilemma is Castillo is hitting hurt. Sea Bass is healthy and not hitting.
May 16, 200422 yr I say put Castillo on the 15-Day DL and bring up Valdez. Just to see how the kid does in the majors and it will give Castillo plenty of time to get his finger fully healed and come back strong.

I have my worries as well. Right now it doesn't look like our experiment at C is working out. Even though it is crying over spilt milk, I can't help to wonder where we would be with Pudge hitting 3rd, and everyone else slid down a spot in the line-up. We'd likely be 25-11, or better, instead of 20-16.....I truly believe that is how bad Castro/Red have affected where we would be. Oh well....just useless babble. We have to deal with what we have today. However, if Castro/Red don't get it going by the end of June, I truly hope the FO will make a move to address the situation.
