They said he would take Phelps spot, but phelps is scheduled to start may 31, and Burnett is going to do may 28 AAA and then he could come up june 2nd. so what will the marlins do if wants so start june 2nd, just wait for phelps next start and replace him?
May 25, 200422 yr would the fish still replace phelps if he ends up having a good outing? why not just replace willis since it seems hes our most inconsistant pitcher so far.
May 25, 200422 yr well dontrelle has proved before that he could pitch and he was much better than Phelps last year so I wouldnt rely so much on Phelps if he just makes a few good starts-thats not enough especially when dontrelle has made a lot more better starts.
May 25, 200422 yr This year Phelps would give us more solid 6-inning outings than Willis might be able to. Also Willis would be able to that explosive pitcher out of the bullpen, not that I hope he'll remain there for the rest of his career. Just a temporary stay until he corrects his mistakes.

It is interesting that June 2 is Dontrelle's scheduled start. If Dontrelle continues to struggle his next two outings, it would be an easy switch to put him in the BP. Otherwise, Jack would have to slide Willis, Pavano and Beckett a day in the rotation to send Phelps back to the BP.
