Who airs a better baseball telecast?

Featured Replies

When I say FOX, I mean the big FOX network (Saturdays and Playoffs), not Fox Sports Net.

Which one airs the better presentation of the game of baseball?

I vote FOX.

Fox is too loud and in your face. I like ESPN much better. That noise on FOX during replays bothers me.

FOX sucks.... first off I can't watch the Marlin games here when FOX decides to "Nationally" televise the Marlins. I put Nationally in quotes cause it's not really nationally I mean unless you live in FLA or the state of the other team. Secondly, they have not gone HD yet and until you start televising Games in HD, ESPN has that edge. Once you've seen a game in true HD it's never the same. FOX is behind in technology they are the worst of all the networks... :thumbdown

I find ESPN to be boring and always showing the same teams all the time.

Dodgers

Red Sox

Diamondbacks

Angels

Cubs

Yankees

Giants

A's

Those are the main teams they show. Recently, due to Griffey, they have selected more Reds games. It gets rather boring, at least FOX airs more teams.

1. Yankees

2. Red Sox

3. Dodgers

4. Braves

5. Cardinals

6. Cubs

7. Rangers

8. Mets

9. Marlins

10. Diamondbacks

11. Phillies

12. Mariners

13. Angels

14. White Sox

15. Astros

16. Tigers

17. Twins

18. Giants

19. Orioles

20. Royals

nice debate started...good.

1. The Game of the Week has always been regionalized.

2. FOX will soon have their HD trucks done which will allow them to do 6 NFL games a week and all 4 MLB games a week in HD. CBS, ABC/ESPN, and NBC can't match it once it gets on the air.

I was answering this question....

Which one airs the better presentation of the game of baseball?

and I say again, FOX may air other teams but they do not really allow you to see the game unless you fall under a certain region. So technically they do not even get the edge there. At least I can see the Marlins when they are on ESPN and when they played the braves in HDTV earlier this year I was in heaven, even though we lost that game.

Production? ESPN. The mid-game interviews with Dibble and Ravetch are the best. Their approach leaves baseball fans without the headache that FOX's all flash no substance approach induces.

Selection? Either is slim pickings. With ESPN you have a chance to watch atleast 1 game per team. FOX with their regional broadcasts make it impossible to watch any team other than the Yankees/Red Sox/Braves/Dodgers/Cubs/Mets in most areas f the country.

Fox shows all the same teams also.

If you cant see the Royals or Twins or Tigers in your market then what use is it really?

That will change with the advent of Digital Television Das.

Fox will be able to show you your main game in HD, and the 3 other games on subchannels. It's called multicasting and once you do the transition for yourself and it gets rolling, you shall see.

For the Marlins? Selfishly, neither. I always end up missing Len and Tommy- they're great.

I like ESPN's K-zone thingy. I was watching a Mariners game on FSN and they showed the path of a pitch and that was pretty cool too. Don't know why they don't do that here.

PPS doesn't have all the baseball camera angles so our crew doesn't use them at home or away.

ESPN can do the same damn thing.
