June 28, 200422 yr before anybody starts throwing rocks, egging the house, starting riots this is just to see how people feel about this guy...this season so far has been a disapointment, the injuries just keep coming he hasnt throw to good when he was healthy...should we stick with this guy and see if he can become the pitcher we all know he can be or do we trade him while he still has major trade value..also do u think it has hurt him mentally that he was supposed to be the badass this season and all the other pitchers are doing well and he isnt...he's in his early 20's and still learning how to pitch in the bigs, yes he has been dominant at times, the yankees saw that at first hand...opinons time what would you do with this guy stick with him or have you had enough and think its time to trade him for a bat that helps to years to come...
June 28, 200422 yr KEEP HIM!! beckett is an ace no matter what, he can be a 20 game winner, he can be a 200+ k pitcher. he's great now and will only get better. they would be stupid to give up someone like josh.
June 28, 200422 yr I don't know, He was supposed to be the ace this year but you could make the argument that he has been the least effective out of our 5 all-star potential starters (Pavs, Penny, AJ, D-Train and Josh). But I do think he'll get better but I think a lot of us just expected it sooner. What he needs to do is what Penny and Pavano have learned recently which is how to fight through games when you don't even have your best stuff. It's amazing how many games those two have one this year when it has appeared they struggled throughout the contest.
June 28, 200422 yr i say keep him after all 2 years ago he go hurt then last year came back really strong and won the world series KEEP HIM
June 28, 200422 yr i say we give him 1-2 yrs....if no sign of real progress and still getting hurt... pack your bags josh. BRING CARL CRAWFORD! ok maybe not but he's pretty freakin good.
June 28, 200422 yr Keep him! He's the real deal and will be successful this season (I hope!). :marlins
June 28, 200422 yr Hello, what is he only 24? My god stop hating on him. I agree he hasn't done well this season but he isn't worth trading. You people are stupid to let someone who has the stuff to throw no-hitters and as was evidenced by his last start, total dominance of a lineup.
June 28, 200422 yr Author does anyone know if he will pitch before the break or are they going to hold him back...
June 28, 200422 yr depends on how he feels they'll prob wait till after the ASB and beckett seems to support that decision....no point rushing him back for one start
June 28, 200422 yr Is this a joke? Yeah, let's trade Beckett. He sucked last year, especially late in the season, and in his time this year he sucked as well. Get him outta here!
June 28, 200422 yr when hes healthy hes one of the best pitchers i think its worth to wait for him to get healthy
June 28, 200422 yr Author Is this a joke? Yeah, let's trade Beckett. He sucked last year, especially late in the season, and in his time this year he sucked as well. Get him outta here! well good to hear your opinion thats what this thread was for...and as you can see not everybody agrees you ..
June 28, 200422 yr *gulp* Trade Becket???? What are you Nuts! Beckett needs some time to develop and no way in hell should we give him up to anybody! Gosh! you people want to have a "perfect" rotation, but you immediately jump off the bangwagon when things get a little sticky. Have a little more faith! Give up Beckett! Unbelievable! :banghead
June 28, 200422 yr In his last start, he struck out 8 of the 13 batters he faced before coming out of the game. When he's completely healthy and back to form, he will be dominant again, and you'll sure be glad to have him come September and October. I honestly can't believe some of you want him to be traded.
June 28, 200422 yr Josh Beckett is our Ace When he is not Injured. Its not like he has been having a horrible season when he wasnt injured. the guy was dominating or puttin up a solid start. Kind of like Pavano. except he is doing it more Consistently.. And Now were seeing the guy who was dealt to the expos for Pedro Martinez :thumbup
June 28, 200422 yr Author your right about J.B. when he's on he's on....just some people including me have gotten a little frustrated that he keeps on getting hurt, bad mouthed the coaches and trainers, and the last 2 years were supposed to be his break out years and except for the W.S. which he was the man he really hasnt done anything...so some people are scared that he may be the next Ankeil..did i spell that right, the guy from the cardinals that was supposed to be a badass..but trust me everytime he pitches everybody is rooting for him..
June 28, 200422 yr As much as I'm tired of hearing Beckett stick his foot in his mouth, you DON'T trade a guy like him.
June 28, 200422 yr I would trade him soon for a bunch of younger talent. He is always injured and when he is playing he is inconsistent. If we can deal him for something better, do it.
June 28, 200422 yr Author if it came down to where we would get a good young SP and a prospect Catcher..i think the marlins would consider it...
June 28, 200422 yr if we trade him he will come back and pitch against us so we should just keep him and plus a TON of ppl really like him for how he looks and most importantly for the way he pitches
June 29, 200422 yr hey guys remember down 3 games to1 to the cubs who went out there on that sunday with the season on the line an pitched like stud. Backs against the wall an he pulled through. no way we trade him hes one of are best pitcher its just hes hurt n needs some time not that he cant live up to the hypes we all kno he can. one other thing ive been mad at espn allways does it like polls there baseb experts on who theyy start in game 7 ...... every one says clemens im wondering why no one said beckett i mean go back to game 6 who else would you have rather had on the mound???
June 29, 200422 yr Beckett Though he has been injured so far, Has come up in the Clutch Spots. All the way through the Playoffs (what a Gem he pitched in Game 1 of the NLDS he pitched vs Schmidt) You dont trade a Guy like Him. When he isnt injured, He's up to the Likes of Prior and Schmidt. and JJ, I was at that Game 5. it was awesome :thumbup
