Please release Harris

Make me.

Seriously what did Lenny Harris do to earn his job?

He shouldn't have made the team over Wilson Valdez out of spring training.

Then sat on the bench for a month until Cordero got hurt.

He had a hot streak the week before his contract became guaranteed.

Ever since he has won the attention from McKeon and has cost the team with awful hitting in the most untimely of times, poor defense, and slow baserunning.

And is the fact that he's a veteran supposed to mean something? The clubhouse isn't exactly filled with joy at the moment.

Harris should know it's time to leave now..like when Schmidt retired, he knew he couldnt do it anymore and he was hurting the team

Fretting over Harris and how to better use the 2 AB's he gets a week is kinda putting the cart before the horse. There are a few bigger fish to fry, so to speak.

I'd still rather have him on the club wasting away on the bench 95 percent of the time than some prospect who would be better off cutting his teeth on the farm.

True, but now when you have as many concerns as this team has. Our offense could use a livlier bat and our pitching could use some more depth to help offset the current rash of injuries.

Harris' lack of production is an eye soar for this team right now and I dont doubt that it is a problem in terms of getting things straightened out.

My point is this, we could be paying someone a lot less money who is younger and with more upside to sit on the bench and pinch hit. Joe Dillon, for example, has earned a spot on this team with his offensive production at AAA. Also, he is flexible because he can play OF or IF positions.

The Marlins cant afford to have guys not meeting the expectations of their contracts. This means guys like Oliver, Harris, and even Cordero (unfortunately, injured) are hurting us because they are not producing at the level we expected them to based on their contracts. We could have cheaper replacements in there right now.

Of course, this is also the reason why Harris will remain with this team because of the money we are paying him and we cant afford to just toss that into the street. You hope he will earn it someday and I think he will. But in the meantime, it would be smart to trim that fat off of this roster if possible.

Let the guy retire in peace.

Sheesh.

At least he always tries, more than I can say for most of the team.

You guys are just frustrated that we're losing and dying to take it out on someone. I trust our FO and I know you all do because we were all lined up and ready to kiss the ground Beinfest walked on last year.

Just calm down and be patient.

f this FO wanted to do something friggin send down willingham or someone and bring up JOE DILLON

I'm afraid Josh may not get a fair chance, unless he keeps batting .400 with +.500 OBP. That's good ol Jack (looking more and more like Dusty Baker). oh well, hope I'm wrong on this one

Please, stick to Tuesday's lineup for the week and a half after the break regardless if Sandy Koufax pitches. I guarantee good results from Choi, Willy, and Treanor.

I disagree. I'd say this organization is high on Josh.

They are very high on Willingham. The only reason they didnt bring him up sooner was because they wanted to give him more time at C and also Treanor was a solid option.

Willingham's numbers have gotten Captain Obvious' attention - so dont believe for a second that this organization isnt high on Willingham. How could they not be? Getting PT, that is another story.

I highly doubt Lenny will be going anywhere anytime soon. Remember in the ESPN mag where Dan Patrick interviewed Dontrelle and he asked who is the most liked guy in the locker room. Lenny Harris. Need that team chemistry. Honestly lets say release Lenny and bring up Dillon. I still think I would rather have Lenny around. Like someone said there are much bigger fish to fry right now

Again, do you know our prospects? Most of them are too old for their level and do not project in the Marlins' long term plans. Remember Wilson Valdez? The guy who was tearing up spring training and AAA and was just two years younger than Alex Gonzalez? People were saying he needed consistent at bats in AAA. Why, he was never going to be anything more than a bench player for us, so why not let him be a bench player in April? Valdez, Aguila and most of our prospects are never going to be starters for us. Willingham may be, but a catcher needs to be groomed in at the major league level anyways. So if they're better than what he have on the bench why not use them? Aren't we trying to win this year? Not worrying about grooming future backups?
