ya there's probably a lot of things you are not fully aware of :)

anyway...i digress.

i prefer to remain an 'independent' until the time comes when picking a party formally would be of some use to me.

You could have voted for Dean if you were a Democrat :whistle

I did vote for Dean.

Texas allows independants to vote during the primaries? I didn't know. Cool.

I love Dean, but Bush would have squashed him. Kerry was the only one with the resume and experience to beat Bush. However, I don't think Dean is done, I think he is going to keep pressing from inside to bring some real change inside the Democratic Party.

Dean can actually do alot of good for the dems from an outside perspective, sort of what mccain trys to do with the GOP

I really like our chances for the future. We have young and inspired people coming up in our party.

Republicans say the same thing actually. these next few years will decide which party will be the more dominant one of the next decade(s). Plus the dems have their secret weapon Hitlery Rodham, and the reps have theirs Mayor Rudy

Hillary?? Don't say that name out loud. Fish Fillet would have a heart attack.

Anyway, I really don't think Hillary has any chances. Not because I don't think she is capable, but because this country is not ready for a woman president. Particularly one Democratic Woman President. Plus, Hillary is hated as much as she is loved, it would be a double blade weapon.

I think our party has many other rising super stars and when Kerry / Edwards get elected, Edwards chances will increase by 100%.

IF Kerry/edwards get elected and dont screw up while in the white house, edwards has a good shot. Don't count Bush out that easily, because you underestimate the swaying votes of independant voters, and dont count edwards in so soon, because we dont know how kerry would perform as president

A lot of ifs and maybes. WHEN Kerry / Edwards get elected (positive reinforcement is called) things will not be rose colored, but I think the day will be brighter. For the first time I feel a sense of hope.

Dean has already done more than anyone can imagine.

Dean re-invigorated the grass roots movement within the party.

A number of key issues being talked about and being debated against the Republicans is because of issues Dean rose.

If Dean had not done what he did....the Democrats would not stand much of a chance in this election.

Now Dean is continuing his grass roots movements throughout the nation....

Dean is far from done....whether he takes another shot at the White House remains to be seen and will be dependent on what happens in November obviously.

And ya...Republicans can even vote in Democratic primaries and vice versa.

There's no real benefit to declaring for one party or another in Texas....unless you are going to actually run for office.

So I'd rather remain on the outside looking in, unless declaring for a party would be of some real use to me.

I think Dean is going to be the conscience of the Democratic Party. You are right, if it wasn't for Dean a lot of people would have been yawning all the way through the election in November, but he put in a strong argument against the war when it was highly unpopular to be "anti-war" and challenged many of the Democrats (including) Kerry to come out of their shells and not be afraid.

My husband is an independant and I asked him the same question I asked you. He told me that he prefers to wait until the primaries are over when the real candidate emerges, then he can decide which one of the two party candidates suits him best. Plus, he doesn't like to be labeled one thing or another.

I may follow suit, but then again, how am I going to run for Governor of Florida without checking in with a party? :mischief
