Kerry's Big Night

Featured Replies

Doesn't hurt when you've got Morgan Freeman to do the narration for your "background intro" video. I heard Spielberg even gave them some input on editing the video.

All they need to complete it is Will Smith running from a swarm of crazy robots & they'd have a hit at the box office. ROFL

anyhow let's see how the speech goes...

Started off slow but gradually got better as it went on and he seemed to get into it more.

Still not the best of public speakers but he did an adequate job and got the points across.

But did better than I was expecting. So I'll give him a...

Got some strange lookin' people at that convention?!

I thought it was one of Rosie O'Donnel's cruises!

:lol :lol :lol

Great Speech as he could get. It had some great lines and for Democrats it was a poinant(sp) speech, this convention went along way to appeal to the on the fence clinton moderates. This will be a big push for his campaign and The Kerry Campaign set up a convention that will be tough to match in terms of great speeches for THe Republicans.

Arnold's speech is going to be hilarious more than anything.

Question:

How the HOLY HELL does someone look French? I have not understood that since Karl Rove made that comment.

How does anyone in their right mind have the nerve to call people and tell them that John Mccain is a immoral man who fathers illegitimate black children.

Ask George Bush's campaign man, Mr. Karl Rove.

The democrats will get their usual post-convention bump in the polls but after the RNC, it won't be close.

it won't be close.

:lol Yes, because common sense and every sign out there means s*** when it's wishful thinking.

So far Pollsters who had their polling groups for this exact speech are pulling a strong % of undecided voters who are voting for Kerry after this speech.

Here's how I rank the convention speeches...

1. John Kerry

2. Bill Clinton

3. Barack Obama

4. John Edwards

5. Al Sharpton

6. Jimmy Carter

7. Howard Dean

Clearly the Democrats put their starting pitchers on the mound, and clearly there were 7 perfect games thrown.

Kerry was fantastic and far exceded my expectations. Clinton...what else is there to say except for "Send Me!" And boy was he pi$$ed at Bush for screwing up his Economy.

Obama was jaw dropping.

Edwards was just Edwards, inspirational, articulate, smart and delivered it with the same passion that I fought for in February.

Al Sharpton was side splittingly funny. "Us Blacks were promised 40 acres of land and a mule. Well we never got that mule so we decided to ride that donkey as far as it would take us!"

Jimmy Carter was so mad he almost said "Gosh Darn It!" Wow he ripped Bush a new one for screwing with his foreign policy in which the world loved us.

Howard Dean, though Dean's to far left for my political tastes, he speaks with a fire that few can match and passion with that of a Clinton or Edwards.

Fantastic convention.

But Kerry was amazing.

I'd put Al Sharpton at 7 and Howard Dean at 5. :thumbup

I really was eager to listen to John for the first time. I always had to read his speeches because I never saw him on the networks. I knew he was great because I have been following almost from the beginning. No one gave two cents for him, because he was not the anti-war candidate like Dean. But the truth is that the man pulled it big because he has presidential appeal. I'd trust this man with my life (boy did that sound corny! ) but it is absolutely true.

My expectations for his speech were high. I felt the way I felt when my husband was about to propose to me. The excitement and anticipation for this speech made me a nerve wreck. When he came out through the crowd my heart jumped. I said to myself: "Please God, let him make a great speech, so the people can see who he is". And he did.

The introductions given by his two daughters were amazing and very endearing. Like the hamster story told by Alexandra. Then came Max Cleland, the Vietnam Vet who lost three limbs in combat and gave a heart felt powerful speech about service, sacrifice and duty. In the backdrop there were Kerry's crewmates from the Swiftboat in the Mekong Delta. It was an image to remember. Vietnam Veterans, finally given the recognition and respect they so rightly deserve for serving our country.

Kerry went up to the stage to a standing ovation that seemed to go on forever. He grabbed the podium and with a little bit of nervousness started his speech. My heart was on my mouth. He said absolutely everything which I believe in. He gave me every reason to vote for him and not against GW Bush. I truly and finally connected with him on a deep level, something I had never felt before. It was inspiring, it was all I was expecting from him and I dare to say, he did better than Clinton.

I am going to do everything in my power to make sure this man is the next president of the United States.

Sorry guys but i know you love good ole JFK II, but Barack's speech made Kerry's look like a teenager was giving it

Obama's was an awesome speech, but the truth is that his was an idealistic, Martin Luther King type of speech. One who shows a vision for a future. Kerry's speech in contrast was full of realism and concrete plans for the future. Obama's speech was a civil rights leader speech, Kerry's speech was a Presidential speech.

I think the three speeches that matter the most were Clinton, Obama, and Kerry. They presented a timeline.

-Clinton to the past when times were better and a reminder to all the democrats, contrary to what the attack machine says, know how to run the country and run it well.

-Kerry to the present to show that GWB is full of it and that he will be a strong leader and will run this country well. I think it was a way to say that when I get elected, I will run this country well, contrary to what the attack machine says.

This is what conservative Tucker Carlson had to say about the convention, which he gave a B+. That is a very suprising grade from the bowtied one:

think tactically, it was a brilliant convention in that it was not scary; they reassured people the Democratic Party is strong enough to run the country in the time of a war. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/special/p.../press.pundits/

-Obama to present the future of the party, one that will be united and strong for the nation. One that is ripe with idealism but optimism and energy. One that will not be about a partisan agenda.

Carlson gave him an A-

He came out for tax cuts for corporations; that's kind of interesting. He didn't say anything about Iraq; that's interesting too. He didn't say anything about the Patriot Act. He didn't say anything about desecrating the environment. He said not a word about Halliburton. In other words, his speech sounded nothing like the typical Democratic speech this year. I thought it was good.
