August 14, 200421 yr He's been showing some promising stuff in his recent ABs, and i'd like to see him start a game soon.
August 14, 200421 yr i agree.... i honestly dont think he could do much worse than enc, so it wouldnt hurt.
August 14, 200421 yr I was tempted to bring back my "start Damien Easley" thread, but decided against it. There has to be a point where we someone from that spot to produce. I know we need to trade Juan in the offseason, but we also need to win now.

August 14, 200421 yr I just like Encarnacion. Always have. And always a little disappointed. I like Aguila . Always have. And have posted herein in his support. I'm thinking... with all of the injuries (which seem extraordinary) in both leagues, we might get a chance to trade (I don't want to say "unload") Enc within the next month. We'll have to eat some Enc salary (that's the extra we paid to make the Lo Duca deal work.) And I am confident Chris Aguila can do a decent job in Enc's place. He's a classy, smart ballplayer with the tools. A competent 4th OF who I wouldn't hesitate to start in RF if we can "re-direct" Encarnacion and most of his salary.
August 14, 200421 yr I've liked him too Chin, hey who wouldn't like a 5-tools-guy? but year after year of being mediocre at the plate, his salary has continued to go up while his hitting hasn't. he'll never disappoint in the outfield, but you've got to be able to count on corner outfielders to power your offense. hopefully he'll get his bat going soon. Agreed though, I wouldn't mind seeing Aguila get to start a few games in a row out there & see what he can do. I think you guys are fooling yourselves if you think Juan will be easy to move though.
August 14, 200421 yr You can't do that. It probably helps the team this year and into the future, but it smells too much like we'd be selling for it to escape scrutiny from the media and fans.
August 14, 200421 yr I've liked him too Chin, hey who wouldn't like a 5-tools-guy? 511670 4-tool.... ENC is a 4-tool guy. A career .265 hitter does not qualify you as a 5-tool guy.
August 14, 200421 yr I think the fact Jack said he's looking for a spark after last night's game might hint that Aguila will get a start.
August 14, 200421 yr LA did eat some of Enc's salary or at least i read that they sent some money 511683 $2-2.5 million of the $6 million due to Juan through the end of the 2005 season. Maybe Jack means Aguila will get a start with Lenny, Mordi, Easley and Redmond on sunday
August 14, 200421 yr Maybe Jack means Aguila will get a start with Lenny, Mordi, Easley and Redmond on sunday Well, Jack mentioned last night that Lo Duca and Lowell will both be out of the lineup today. So, unless Lo Duca needs another day off tomorrow, he'll play.
August 15, 200421 yr From the little I have seen in him, I think Aguila could become an effective 4th OF for us next season. He did very well in tonight's game, but unless if Juan is back in Jack's doghouse, I'm not sure we will see him that often this season as a startering OF.
