Falling Down

Featured Replies

What an awesome movie. While my brother was at work today, I put in Falling Down and wow, it was a great great movie.

If you liked American History X, I Really think you'd love this movie.

It has Robert Duvall and Michael Douglas. Douglas plays a well to do man who's somewhat psychotic. After being stuck in traffic and forced to be in an LA Heat Wave trapped he breaks down and leaves his car in the middle of the freeway. He runs to a conveniant shop in South Central owned by a korean. Douglas wants change for a phone call but can't get it so he buys a soda thinking it could get him the change he wants but when he finds out that The Soda is 85 cents, it begins to set him off. Enraged that the shopowner does not speak good english, he goes on a rant that this is his country and he should know his language and that he's ungrateful for what THe US did for Korea. He takes the shop owner down beating him with a bat and then gets up demanding to know the price of various items and when he hears the price begins to smash them calling them too high until he breaks up the entire store.

It sets off a series of destruction and death as he lashes out on what urban society has become, taking on why food never looks like it does in ads, the homeless, time and standard, sterotyping and the dregs of society while Duvall plays the pussey whipped cop trying to stop him.

It's a great movie on a man who unleashes on the lowering standards of our society. I highly recommend you give this a rent.

Falling Down is from 1993 I believe. It's a pretty good flick and some of the stuff he does is awesome. Also, if he took an economics class, he'd know that lowering supply (by destroying stuff) in the store would actually cause prices to increase.

Falling Down is a great movie. Douglas does a great job of a normal everyday Joe just losing it.
