Spooney setback

Spooney setback: Right-hander Tim Spooneybarger won't return this season because of soreness in his right elbow from scar tissue that broke apart during a bullpen session last weekend in Milwaukee.

Spooneybarger, who hasn't pitched since June 11, 2003, underwent reconstructive elbow surgery Sept. 9. He may resume throwing this weekend in San Diego and is expected to be ready for spring training next year.

It's probably best to make sure he is fully recovered and pitching at 100% before he returns to the mound.

Tough situation. Spooney wears his heart on his sleeve and his heart is in the game. He really wanted to be back this Season.

He really hurt (as in "painful") his arm last work-out. Tore some scar tissue as I understand it. That's not good. Talking about his throwing again in another week or two.

That sounds nuts to me.
