how could I forget "Joker" by Steve Miller Band!

and, as mentioned before, I could have chosen from a plethora of good CCR songs....

but speaking of Fortunate Son, did anyone see Manchurian Candidate? During the credits, I think it's Wyclef singing Fortunate Son...it sounds pretty cool.

Hmm.. here are 20 goodies. I'm limiting myself to the 70s (the "classic rock era")mainly and what I'd hear on like, big 106. No particular order, just what pops in my mind. I'm sure I'll forget some, it would be a lot easier if I hadn't lost all my mp3s

1. Moonage Daydream- Bowie

2. Crazy on You- Heart

3. Magic Man - Heart

4. More Than A Feeling- Boston

5. That Smell- Skynyrd

6. Renegade- Styx

7. Don't Fear The Reaper- BOC

8. Burnin For You- BOC

9. Come On and Love Me- KISS

10. Sunshine Of Your Love- Cream

11. Baba O'Riley- The Who

12. Anyway You Want It- Journey

13. Hold on Loosely- .38 Special

14. Magic- Pilot

15. Mama Weer All Crazee Now- Slade or Runaways

16. Saturday In the Park- Chicago

17. Comfortably Numb- Pink Floyd

18. Noone Like You- Scorpions

19. The Chain- Fleetwood Mac

20. Rhiannon- Fleetwood Mac

And Juanky..you disappoint me. Love Song? Please. Have you heard much of the Cure? and there's a new version? I assume it's yet another cover (people are so uncreative).

I wasn't really naming the best Cure song IMO, just a song I like.

And yeah, there was a cover done by 311 for 50 first dates.

I was debating with a friend abotu songs that would be considered "classic rock" and I think it deals with the era they were made in ... I dont think those songs would fall in that category

good songs but not classic rock

at least in my opinion

I don't go so much by era as the fact that it's over a decade in the past (in the case of most of those, 2 decades or more).

It's a classic, it's rock, and it was a long time ago.

I just said that because I wanted to include the police into my list but I couldnt see them in there

I catch your drift though

I dont know abotu GnR ... that was like what 1987?

way too soon to be considered classic rock ... same with REM with "man on the moon" that was probably early 90's

531152[/snapback]

I only threw GnR in there cuz the song was stuck in my head lol

I'm not sure when REM was, but I think it was before the 90's.

Classic Rock is really a sound. Lenny Kravitz plays a 'classic' type of rock. Even on his album that came out this year.

It's such a broad issue. Do we put hair metal in the classic rock category? It started around the early 80s and went until around the early 90s. That was pretty recent. It's all pretty confusing.

R.E.M. started around the mid-80s, but they didn't play classic rock. They had a very alternative sound, kind of like the modern jam bands.
