With the team winning with Damion Easley at second base, McKeon says he may go with the hot hand for a while. In last year's playoffs, McKeon noted he kept Mike Lowell out of the lineup for some games because the Marlins were rolling without their All-Star third baseman.

 

Luis will be in the lineup no doubt soon but interesting that he is even considers keeping Easley in the lineup when Luis is healthy. Whatever works I guess.

I think we should put Easley in the OF when Luis comes back. Easley deserves to stay in either way. I think I would put him in for Jeff C.

Easley is versatile enough to give all of the infielders a rest, thus staying in the lineup after Luis returns.

I don't know if Easley will start over Luis, but I know we have found our extra hitter when the DH is available to us later in the season... :mischief

He's been taking fly balls for months, so he can play 6 positions. 6 positions, 6 games per week. It shouldn't be hard to find him some playing time and get everyone some rest.

Theres no other like Luis. He should rest up so hes top notch when hes back but after that, he should be back in 2nd. Easley and Conine can rotate that position, but the 0F should b kept as it is.

This hurricane thing (cancelling the three games with the Cubs) is a blessing and a curse.

 

Not only does it give Luis time to heal, it gives the entire team some much needed rest. But at the same time, when you're a hot team as the Marlins are you want keep plaing and keep the streak alive.

I wouldn't mind seeing Easley in the lineup because his bat has been superb. This is another case of wishing Marlins were in AL so we could have the DH.

Screw the DH, Easley can rotate in and get starts.

It's that time of the season where Jack throws all allegiances out the window and puts the eight best guys out there every night with no regard to egos or sensitivities.

 

It seems to me what Jack is doing and will do right until we clinch or fall off to the wayside is be unmerciful about playing time.

 

And I think the players all know it.

 

McKeon showed last season he'll sit anybody from Mike Lowell to Juan Encarnacion to Mark Redman or Carl Pavano. It's a tremendously useful motivational tool. Hopeully he's as successul employing it this September as he was last.

The DH is evil, I feel bad for all those AL pitchers which have been in the show for a long time and never had an actual major league hit :lol .

You can't take Luiy out of the order.

 

I swear you find room for Easley. Just rotate him in. One day rest Alex, another Luiy, another Conine, another Cabrera, another Enc, another Lowell... Keep them fresh and Easley in.

If you see his stats you see that he doesnt feel comfortable in the other position other than 2nd or SS and thus is struggling at the plate when he doesnt start in those positions.

I don't put much faith in how well a guy hits when playing what part of the field. Unless you're a DH it shouldn't matter where you're at for the other half-innings.

Easley is probably hitting so well while playing 2B because he's been allowed to take over Luiy's spot in the order ahead of Lowell and Cabrera, instead of batting ahead of Encarnacion/Redmond and Alex when taking over for Conine/Choi at 1st base.

Yeah he kept Lowell out but then Lowelll hit the HR in Wrigley and Lowell started from then on out. LOL!

 

I like what Easley is doing, but you can't take Castillo out. If only we had a DH... :\
