Posted September 9, 200420 yr I'm watching the Yanks-DRays game on YES, and Michael Kay had a tidbit on McKeon, saying that he spoke to him last week before the hurricane, and that he says McKeon acknowledged that there are days he feels like retiring :confused , but that there "are more days I feel like breaking Stengel's record" :plain . Take what you want from this, but it's good to know he wants to stick around...

September 10, 200420 yr If we don't make the playoffs i'm sure he will retire and he has already stated that as long as the Marlins remain a winning club he'll stick around.

If LoDuca (pretty much guaranteed) Pavano and/or Benitez come back, I think Jack stays. If we lose a lot of talent, I don't think Jack wants to go through a rebuilding year...
September 10, 200420 yr Working on a 1 year contract, it is not sure if management wants to retain his services. I would not be surprised to see him not re-sign and sign with the Phillies or another team looking for a different type of leadership (right or wrong). Â Only time will tell about this situation. Once you have been on top, you want to stay on top (atleast with the same organization). Not sure the Marlins have put enough resources in the pool to make this happen.
